Thanks to Fabian, I finally snagged a Somerset era Simpson Emperor. Rid my den of a few brushes to make room for this glorious lampblack Beauty.

I had often seen fellows in their SOTD's show off some really great brushes and I in turn have owned quite a bit of them too... Over 50 Simpson, a dozen Plisson, Rooney, Vulfix etc by the multiples. Always wanted one of these Emperors, mainly for the superb handle and I don't mind the tall loft at all either. Fits very well into my soon to be truly Minimalist den. In the past year I have probably shaved less than in the previous 8 where I couldn't wait until the next morning to try something new; a razor, a cream or soap, a BRUSH. Time passes and those wonderful early years of discovery fade a tad for some of us. I got a bit of the old kick as I unboxed this one that has eluded me for almost 3/4 of a decade. Thanks again Fabian![Image: QaD6zY2.jpg]

Mike, my genuine pleasure sir.. wow you make that brush look good, great job framing the brush in the shot. May it meet and exceed your expectations and enhance your shave whenever you use it.

I echo the sentiments toward the razor. Is that abalone shell?

Yes Sir, it is abalone. A fairly rare C.V. Heljestrand MK No.33 straight razor

It was a favorite, though mine was the skinnier-bodied Simfix version. The thicker Somerset would have been a joy.

I think the Emperor and the Rooney Heritage Emillion are the best looking brushes available.  I have one of each and they are aesthetically and ergonomically the best of my 30 brushes.

Rest assured that the poor Rooney Stubby that was replaced is amongst friends now.

Gone in 60 seconds, I'll call her "Eleanor"
