Interested in a really nice shaving bowl. Anyone know what colors these are available in? Site is down and only three solid colors are on Amazon. I seem to remember seeing on the site two tone, not including the handle - ?

Just for grins go to http://www.Georgetownpottery.com and check out the Scuttles. These are really nice and if you buy a second you will save money. Great customer sevice. I think I talked to Debbie. I have a G12 and is plenty big enough.

If you just want a shaving bowl go to http://www.captainschoicestore.com.    They have some nice bowls, different colrs with ridges for $21.75.  Still think the scuttles are better. Good luck!

Just ordered a Fine lathering bowl in White and Blue. I am not even a bowl user, but it looked amazing. Will let you know when it arrives. Cost around $30 shipped.

If you want the warm lather feeling look into the g12 scuttle. If the heat does not matter to you get a lathering bowl.

I already have a G12. Not really using it much, though it is very nice. Not big enough bowl, but bulky because it's a scuttle. This is why I decided to try the bowl. The Fine bowl looks excellent and I love the fact that it will hang on the wall. I am more of a face latherer anyway, but it's nice to have a bowl just in case. If the bowl proves itself my G12 may be for sale. It's really beautiful, but is collecting dist right now.

I own a G12 and really like it. Tend to reach for my DB 1.5 scuttle as it has a dribble port to speed up the lather process but both work really well.

To find what they have available as "seconds", just type in "seconds". The one I own is a 2nd and the defect was two pencil tip size white spots on the finish. I would not have guessed it to be a second and don't consider it a second.

I know Maggards had them in stock from Fine. Not sure if they still have any. They have pics as well.

I have one...

... and I really quite like it.

The sides are low and it is sufficiently wide.
It feels comfortable to hold, but also functions well sat on the vanity.
The ridges aid with aeration.
The static hole technology performs as intended (but is not something I utilise).

It does however have a "mass made" element to it (opposed to the likes of Dirty Bird and Georgetown).

Yes, Ben, it looks mass produced for sure, but well designed and thought through. I love my G12, but just don't use it that much. I may trade it away so someone else can enjoy it since it is a very beautiful piece of pottery. My Blue/White Fine bowl is on its way to me.

I am in the same boat. I love my g20 but don't seem to pull it out so much.  I bought a smaller yoresh pottery scuttle that is similar in size to the fine I have and like it for quick everyday shaves.  I even went so far as to buy a huge steve woodhead mega from England. it could have sailed across the Atlantic with Christopher Columbus by itself.

My Blue/White Fine bowl came in and I used it for a shave yesterday. here is my SOTD:

The bowl is definitely mass-produced (had a "Made in Thailand" sticker on it), but is of good quality glazed porcelain. The design is what got me interested in this bowl. It works really, really well. The ridges are very functional and the diameter and depth of the bowl are very good. The handle is well placed and the spot to rest the brush between passes is excellent. The bowl also hangs on a hook, which I have yet to install in my nook. So far very happy with the bowl.

Here are my future planned SOTD (but don't hold me to them, I reserve the right to change my mind at any time Smile ):

It's a real nice bowl. Not too heavy and definitely has that mass-produced feel to it, but real nice in use. I have yet to hang it on my nook wall, but that is a great way to store it off the counter. The brush holding shelf is also very useful during shaving.
