Erik and I made a trade at the end of December.  My package to him in the U.K. (APO) finally made it to him but not before a trip to the USS Carl Swinson.

His package to me was read in to the tracking system (APO) on December 29, 2014.  It arrived today.  I continue to be amazed....wish this package could talk.

I know, right? Makes no sense how is bad all over the place. It's not even the holiday season anymore.

I had a package coming from Italy without tracking. Emphasis on had. I've never seen it two months later. Some mailman is shaving with some nice Pannacrema.

Not trying to defend the Post Office but seeing it was a APO it could have been the Military's fault the packages took so long or ended up on a ship first.

It has been BRUTAL the past 3 or 4 weeks. I have heard some people theorize that it is partly due to all of the contract work the USPS has taken on (think Amazon).

I have had nothing but trouble with the USPS starting in January of this year. Both incoming and outgoing.
I have to call them at least once a week and the menu to get through to a live person is so frustrating.

"I didn't get that, what are you calling about"  So much so that I have actually cursed at the voice prompt.  Confused

Packages just sit a a location for days. I have been promised a call back within 24 hours at least 5 times, and have yet to receive one...but the package starts moving.

Honestly, it's been ridiculous since before the holiday season began. The Amazon contract that was acquired some months back, as Phil stated, is one of the more bigger reasons for these issues. It's impossible, it seems to receive mail rather quick and in good condition, and until they figure out as way to increase a better way of production, it'll be more consistent towards the basis of what is going on now.

I ordered something from Amazon and had guaranteed 2-day shipping.  It took six days!  The shipper? UPS.  When my Amazon order comes via USPS it is on time and, occasionally, even comes on a Sunday to make that 2-day commitment.  UPS sucks a lot worse than the USPS, in my opinion.

Does the post office screw up?  Sure.  However, I have more upside with them than down.  I cannot always say that about UPS.

USPS is great as long as you are Amazon.  I have noticed a drastic change over the past month and hope that this is only temporary.

Sometimes I wish they made super cheap "Go-Pro" style cameras that we could attach to the boxes.  I would LOVE to see the journey sometimes...

I agree, my packages are almost always late with UPS. Also, about 2-3 weeks ago, I had a rash of packages on the way. I had 4 coming via UPS, 3 via USPS. I ordered the UPS packages 2-3 days before the USPS, yet I received all of my USPS packages before even one of the UPS packages arrived. Granted this was during one the large ice/snow storms, yet USPS never once delayed, nor claimed inclement weather as excuse.  UPS repeatedly delayed my packages due to weather, but the odd thing is..they had already arrived at my local UPS delivery center, which is about 20 miles away....they sat there for 3 days.

Meanwhile, we only had ¼" ice with 6" snow packed on top, but....I get a knock at my door and there is my post lady, all bundled up to keep warm, and holding my packages.

I understand weather was involved, and this situation maybe shouldn't apply, but it just shows me yet another reason to go with USPS.
