For those who are interested, replacement knots are now available from MÜHLE.

They are in the online catalog, under Classic/Purist accessories. The knots include Silvertip Badger, Silvertip Fiber and Fine Badger. All are in 21mm size for now.

Thanks, Cary. Note that until today the catalog place holders clearly indicated that the knots were all 21mm. This is not clear from today's catalog update. Interested members might want to confirm knot size by contacting info@muehle-shaving.com.

They do: "The knots include Silvertip Badger, Silvertip Fibre and Fine Badger."

While I don't have a silvertip fibre to compare to yet, I still think an extra stuffed black fibre knot would be about perfect.

That's pretty neat for reknotting a beloved handle, but their price is higher for the knot that you can buy a new 21mm brush for at shaving.ie.

I had the same reaction. I gulped when I saw the prices, but passed the information on anyway.

Those knots are not to be used in restorations and such. And they are not "new" - they have been on the Mühle catalog for a while.

The purist line of Mühle has interchangeable knots. See the screw thread in the base of the knot? It is for screw in the purist handles.

As they say in the english site:

Quote:This series embraces interchangeable brush heads in the hair grades silvertip badger, fine badger and synthetic.

The idea is to buy one of their expensive handles or sets, and several knots that you can interchange with your handle.

There are also rebranded "Purist" sets made by Mühle for GFT or TOBS. Here's an example:

You can get a larger handle and tap a larger hole if necessary.

For me, the cost is too high. It is better to by a complete Muhle synthetic brush.
