Does anyone else get a better shave when skipping a day or two like I do. It seems i ways get a smoother and closer shave than when shaving every day.

I get a better shave when I skip a day, but I enjoy shaving so much now that I rarely skip.  Strange, given how much I hated shaving before I started using DE.

Waiting one or two days between shaves makes for a closer shave.

I know my straights don't care if I have a day or a weeks growth but now that I enjoy shaving, I shave everyday and abhor stubble.

I agree with all comments.  Daily shaving I need 3 full passes for DFS.  Skipping days I only need 2.

It never fails - if I wait one day between shaves, I get the most satisfying shaves ever.  Don't know why, but it's a fact.  Amazing.

I give my face a break on Sundays, and my Monday shave is AMAZING.

I like shaving every day although I agree skipping a day gives me a better shave satisfaction.  But there are so many soaps, brushes and razors sometimes I wish I can shave more than once a day!Smile

This. Used to hate it, now i shave pretty much everyday. Definitely feels like a closer shave if I let it go for a day

I have shaved every day since I was 15. I did miss two day due to a hospital stay a few years back.

Although I usually shave every day there are times when I skip a day for no particular reason.  It's true that the next shave is a dandy.

I shave every other day, sometimes every 3 days. Not only does my skin appreciate the break, I seem to get closer, smoother shaves...compared to shaving daily.
Also, my facial hair grows slower than most men, it takes me 36-48 hours to grow what most guys do in 12-24...so I can go a day or two and not really look too much like a hobo.  Biggrin

I shave almost every morning.

On occasions when Im running late for work I may miss a shave. I have noticed that I tend to get slightly closer & smoother shaves if I skip a day.

This echoes my sentiments exactly.  I was never able to shave on a daily basis (even in the military which required it) until I switched to traditional shaving.  I went from twice a week, to every other day, to every day.  I simply love everything about the shaving experience to skip a day, unless I absolutely have to. Granted, the few and far between times that it does happen, I do get an incredible shave Biggrin

For me it seems when shaving on consecutive days I never get that BBS on my neck area around my huge Adams Apple. It's BBS. when I feel it but it always has random stubble peeping in 30 minutes later and it just makes me mad. If I could skip days I would but being in the military during the week is required so my weekends come in handy for the break of shaving.

I also noticed that the longer my beard is (say up to 1/4") the better the shave.  I hypothesize the reason is the beard hair holds more water and stays easier to cut longer.  My beard is like wire and I live in a dry climate so keeping the beard wet for a shave is difficult sometimes.  I often have to re-lather part of my face in the middle of a pass (and no it is not because I am very slow).  But I have enough empirical evidence to make me certain that longer is better.

I shave every day, but occasionally skip a day here or there. I must say that I have never noticed any improvement in the closeness of a shave because of this. And all my shaves are good ones, anyway. Sometimes I get one I enjoy a bit more, but I've never seen that connected to the frequency of shaving.
Maybe it's a psychological thing? Your beard feels a bit rougher and thicker, so when you shave it off, it feels like you got a bit closer? Biggrin
