Folks-

New brush. Gotta share.

I've been waiting a while on this to arrive. It's here. Yea!

Morris & Forndran L7 in faux tortoise. 24.5 x 50. The knot is a little squished from the long ride in an envelope. I'm hopeful that after one L7 that was too small and one that was too large, that this one will be the one that's "just right".

Post bloom photos to come.

Ahhh. SBAD is at peace. (for the moment, lol)

That's a beautiful brush. Why would such an expensive brush be shipped in an envelope? I would not be very happy about that.

Visually that thing is a work of art. If it lathers half as good as it looks you'll be in tall cotton.

The hair.

I ordered two band. And the reverse side of the handle does say "Blonde Badger"

However, the appearance isn't typical two band. On the shelf next to my M&F Emillion 1 style two band brush, it DOES look very similar. That is, there is a slight light band right above the Handle.

This brush has lighter tips than my emillion style. I think I have a brush deficiency as these are the only two M&F brushes I own at the moment.

I'll be taking this one for its maiden run on Saturday.

Had this image:
Worried staffer: Mr. President, the SEALS need authorization to go in after the hostages. The deadline is in 5 minutes!
Lather covered older man: Damn it, man, can't you see I'm having my first shave with my new Morris and Forndran?? When I said don't even interrupt me if Iran goes nuclear, I meant it!

I bought Max's last unused woodgrain L7, and haven't used it either. It's in the hoarder blood I suppose.

I've taken this loong awaited brush for its maiden shave. Actually, I used it, not a maiden!

Here is a a photo post-bloom. During the initial shampoo, it lost about ten hairs. Far more than any prior M&F brush I've had, but nothing that concerns me at all.

The appearance of the hair brought out some comments about three band versus two band. I can say that, in use, it's two band without a doubt. Great backbone. Soft tips. Great flow through.

I firmly believe that two band hair goes through a break in period. i fully expect this brush to only improve over the next 10-15 uses. And it will get that kind of use.

The handle is wonderful. Almost on a par with my beloved 57 Douglas.

I'm posting a comparison shot for two reasons.

First, when this L7 stands between my M&F Emillion 1 style and a Rooney Emillion 2 (both two banders) there is no doubt in my book, that this L7 is two band hair, not 3.

And, second, and most exciting for me...I've thought for many months about having an Emillion "1.5". Something larger than the E1 and smaller than the E2. I even explored having Rudy Vey do a full custom. I think that gap is now filled. I do believe this is it! As you'll see in the photo, it's a near perfect "tweener."

That's the report for now. I can say that this L7 is a definite keeper. It's smaller than the woodgrain beauty than is now with Shanman. And its larger than then the L7 that went to a soldier in the Mid-East. This one is, indeed, "just right." At least size-wise.

Is it the Holy Grail? Nope. The knot is ever so slightly "less than perfectly shaped". And its just a little stiff (yet).

And, I've got a GYLE en route. So, the saga will continue...
