Which Ikon Slant are you referring to, the regular Slant or the Shavecraft 102?
If you are referring to the 102, then you may find it milder than the 37C. However, I find the regular Ikon Slant more aggressive than the Merkur.

I have the regular that came out before the 102 or the black one I think dlc

I have a Mercur 37c slant and have been shaving with it for two years. Received my Ikon 102 slant and have shaved with it 24 times,
The Ikon is as efficient as the 37 but far easier to use, much less irritation and have only had one nick and that was my fault. Both wonderful shavers but my chioce is the Ikon and my best shaves are with a feather and a close second Personna Med.

I have both the Ikon and  the Merkur, cant seem to get the angle right on the Ikon. Merkur gives me a BBS without irritation every time, lovely razor.

I have an ikon and had an issue with the blade alignment initially. Is your blade parallel to the top cap?

I've had both iKon slants and the Merkur 37C.  I still have the 37C if that tells you anything.

To follow up on my prior post, I was getting mild shaves with the ikon ss slant as well. After taking a closer look, I realized that the blade was not parallel to the top cap. After some trial and error I finally settled on placing the blade on the base plate and adjusting from there. This is a little easier than the demo that Ikon posted on YouTube.

I have a SC 102 and 37c. The 102 is less aggressive but still fairly efficient. However, the 37c takes the cake for me. BBS every single time with no irritation. If I started with a 37c, I'm not sure I would own another razor. I adore it!

Exactly like me. My iKon slant (first gen.) had blade alignment issues, something that I didn't expected from a razor sold at that price tag.
Furthermore, it didn't gave me a better shave than my Merkur 37C, that cost about 1/5 of the price of the iKon.

As a result, I ended up selling the iKon. As for the 37C, it still remains on my den.

However, my favourite slant razors are none of those two...

I know videos are not permitted here and I hope it's not an issue mentioning it but over on YouTube Dubster (Darren Webster) just released a great video shaving off a full beard comparing the 37C and the DE89.  I remember the Slant being a great shave.  One of those 'why did I sell it years ago' thoughts.  Has me thinking of picking one up again. Love the two piece design and short handle length.

Hello. I own the ikon 102, DLC Slant, and Merkur 37c. The 102 can be your daily driver, and the shaving for dummies forced angle of the 37c is great.  It forces you to its angle and even with a Feather blade it will feel smooth.  Now, as I said in many times, the DLC Slant can be scratchy, but with a good prep you can get a great shave.  I wish a Merkur 37c in stainless steel. Just my dream.

I guess this is a YMMV, but I could never get a comfortable shave with my (now sold) 39C, but my iKon Slant is head above shoulders better for me. That said, my ATT S1 is my daily driver. It gives me a closer BBS shave and is still smoother.

I prefer my Ikon DLC over the Merkur, but both give a great shave.  Aggression seems to be a subjective thing.  I'd give the edge to the DLC there but as the thread proves, everyone develops their own view.  Smile

I have both. The dlc slant for me is very particular about angle. Coming from an r41 and ikon tech I'm used to Shaving at shallow angles, with thebdlc slant not so much it has one angle that you haft to be at ,basically your cutting or your not no middle ground. As far as aggressiveness I find both mild, actually I have the 37c,39c,and ikon dlc and for me they are all pretty mild.  I think the merkurs are easier to shave with, but maybe the ikon is a little smoother.

For the money get the merkurs. I found the Ikon dlc slant in stock 2 places for 185 dollars shipped. The merkurs I paid I think 45 dollars a piece shipped. No way is the ikon worth almost 5x the price of the merkurs. Yes it's cool looking, built insanely well, all stainless, the blade can be a little tricky just bump the blade with your fingernail before you tighten  that last turn and the blade alignment is good to go. If you want the ikon get it. If you want to try a slant get the merkurs. They do shave different ,but just speaking of hair removal per stroke they are pretty close, the ikon may be a little more aggressive but its very smooth and really not worth mentioning.

Also the merkurs you can go by feel more if this makes since the head where the blade is on the merkurs is kind of flat like where the scallops are above and below the blade, its not on the ikon its all just rounded, its hard to say this but maybe somebody knows what I'm talking about and for me that makes finding the angle easier with the merkur. Both are good though, just comes down to what you want to spend honestly. Oh and the ikon is nice and loud when its cutting so that does help finding the angle with it.

I have the Ikon SS slant, and am not totally impressed with it. Just not as comfortable as I would like. I tried a 37c, unimpressed. Then a 39c... What a difference a little handle length and weight makes! Of the three, the 39c is my favorite.

That's good to know! I just snagged a 39C and really like it. I seem to do better with longer/heavier handles.
