Hi everyone. I've got an EJ DE89L I've had for about 4 weeks and I just noticed that the chrome finish appears to be marred or perhaps flaking off in one of the corners of the baseplate. I routinely dip my razor in alcohol after each use. Could the alcohol cause this? I can't imagine that would be the cause but I don't recall seeing the blemish until now. Any ideas what might have caused this other than perhaps I just missed seeing the blemish when I first got the razor?

Posted similar query on other shave sites and the recommendations were to return the razor due to possible defects. Contacted the seller and the new razor should be received later today. Thanks to all that may have read my post here and responded on the other forum. Your suggestions and advice are much appreciated.

Alcohol should not cause this situation. I would definitely return it for a replacement. Edwin Jagger stands behind all their products and has great customer service.

edwin jagger is normally pretty good about warranty. but i have also had chrome plating issues with my ej89. i stopped buying anything in a zamak head because i also had a issue with a merkur at one point as well. edwin jagger did eventually replace my top cap.

Get it replaced soon.  Once the chrome starts to wear away, water gets underneath and eventually the Zamak corrodes.
