Hello,
I think my Christmas brush will be a Chubby in 2 band.
I've never tried 2 band at Simpson.
I'm afraid that the Chubby 2 is too big for me, what is your opinion on this 2 iconic brushes ?

What is your biggest brush right now?  Even though the Chubby 2 has a large knot spec, it is set low enough to where there isn't much bloom so it may have the same size bloom as a smaller knot at a taller loft.

I have two Chubby 1s and I love the knot size, but I wish the handles were a little larger.  I have had two Chubby 2s (sold the Best) and these are probably the best size in the line for most people, though the knot is on the large side.  The one Chubby 3 that I own is huge, but a real treat to use.  I usually save the Chubby 3 for weekend shaves as it takes a while to load up enough soap and then build the lather, but I guess that applies to all uber-dense brushes.

2 bands are in bulb shapes. With this shape knot it feels smaller, I find the chubby 2 the perfect size. One feels a bit small for me.

I love my chubby 1 but wish it had more to grip. So I bought a 2. Great brush but I still prefer the chubby 1

I had a chance to use a Chubby 2 2-band a while back thanks to one of our very good Austin, TX members.  When I can ever afford a high end brush, the Chubby 2 2-band will be it.

If I were thinking about a Chubby 1, I would just get a Duke 2 or 3.

I have owned a 4125/2 silvertip bulb and the chubby will feel about the same size on your face, although a lot more hair and a lot less loft.

I have a CH2 two band.  And I had a CH1 two band.  Like others, I quite enjoyed the CH1 but found the handle a bit small.  So, i sold it.

The handle on the CH2 is a bit "fat."

Therefore I find myself reaching for the Duke 3 two band.  It has a knot that is reminiscent of the CH1 and the handle has more grip surface.

Having both the Chubby 1 and 2 (both 2 band) I can say without reservation that you will want the chubby 2 hands down.  Number_one

Chubby 2 without question. However you can't go wrong with any of the chubby line!

If your able to get the Chubby 2 -2 band I would go for that vs the CH1 size, the 2 bands will feel smaller given that its bulb shapped as everyone mentioned.

2 or 3.

I agree with Johnny except for the part about the Duke 2. Duke 3 is more or less the same brush as the Chubby 1 but with a much better handle.

Between the Duke 3 and the Chubby 2, my preference would lie with the Chubby 2.

However, I find the Chubby 2 to be a bit of a lather hog of sorts.

I would recommend looking into a Simpsons Tulip 3 or 4. Similar face lathering oriented handle, similar sized knot, slightly less dense to avoid the hogging issue.

Hope this helps!

IMO the Chubby 2 is as good as it gets!

If your not sure on size get the Chubby 2. It will be easer to sell if you decide that its not your thing, the funds from the sale would cover the cost of a Chubby 1.

I agree with Jim's suggestion, try the CH2 first. You'll easily recoup your investment if you find it not to your liking.  Further, the CH2 will likely sell faster than a CH1 given it's stronger popularity.

Chubby 2 is an entirely approachable size IMO, but I've always favoured larger brushes.

Chubby 1 in 2 band can feel a little concentrated given the Chubby's high density translates into greater knot rigidity.

Another suggestion already made, might be to consider a Duke 3, which although perhaps not as iconic as the Chubby, it surely must rank among Simpson's best offerings.

Chubby 1 is only for small hands.
Chubby 2 and 3 are your choices and options

Received my Synthetic Chubby Nr.2  todayand love the size...

Just as has been said, the Chubby 1 is a small brush for sure. The Chubby 2 is actually rather compact and can be considered a standard size. Smile

Well done.  I can almost guarantee you'll be pleased as punch with that Chubby 2.  Did you order a Super Badger, SilverTip or Manchurian?
