I just checked the temp of my hot water. Only 125 degrees F. I wonder if that will be hot enough to allow a scuttle to do its job. I'm thinking of finally getting one, but don't know if that temperature is hot enough. It appears that's as hot as my water heater can make it.

What do you think?

You should give it a try David. Fill it up and let it sit to pre-heat then dump and refill for shave. My water reads 120 and I find it adequate. Too much heat may wreck your lather. Good Luck!

All soaps react differently. Some I can use ultra hot tap water with no issues and some breakdown in anything over room temp.

If it is too hot to hold you hands under, it is too hot for a scuttle....that's my rule.

Don't forget to fiddle around with the thermostat if you need to...but be careful, if I crank mine too high I can boil a roast under the tap  Wink

Hot water is detrimental to the brush anyway. 125° Fahrenheit is not bad at all. Enough to open the pores of your skin and make it take up more water as well... Good to go!

I don't think that would be an issue. Most dishwashers are set at 120 degrees and those dishes come out plenty hot.

The US Energy Dept and various consumer agencies recommend 120 degrees as the most efficient water heater temperature.
