Things have improved since my last posting, I now have somewhere between 40 to 60 years of vintage blades. I almost never use them to failure because they last so long that I just eventually want something different so I don't really know how long they'll really last. The 60 years is just an estimate and the 40 years is calculated by how long I usually use them. Unless I go all Methuselah I'll probably be handing down quite a few to my boys. Plus I still have maybe 4 or 5 years of current model blades that I've just recently started using now and then again. For the hell of it. Some of them match the vintage in closeness but none in comfort or longevity but it's fun to change things up.

Maybe four-five years for me, but soaps will probably last me decades!

OK, the way I'm figuring for myself... I get approx' 20 shaves per GEM SS ptfe (or more, but I'm using 20 shaves for the math), and my DE blades yield 7 shaves per.

The last time I counted and did the math I figured that if I shaved every day I had 40 years worth of blades on hand. I decided years ago that I was never going back to cartridges or any other way to shave, and took steps toward insuring that. If I live longer than that they can turn me to ash with a beard on my about to be incinerated face.

That's me. Of course I can extend that by shaving every other day or so, but that doesn't count. Only ones present shave regimen counts - no changes. If you shave every other day or every third day go with that.

Shaving the way you shave today, and the number of blades on hand, if TEOTWAKI (The End Of The World As We Know It) were to come tomorrow how long could you shave? No changes to present regimen allowed. Shaving as you do today and assuming enough shave soap on hand.

So how long do you put off having a beard in the event of TEOTWAKI?

1,400 Dorco   Prime  X 3= 5200  days
400  Dorco  ST301 X2 =800 days
350 Dorco ST300 X2 = 700 days
375 Polsilver SI X3 = 1125 days
1100 Voskhad X3 = 3,300 days
490 Treet Platinum x 3 = 14,70 days
675  Astra SP  X 3 = 1,425 days
380 Baili X 2 = 740 days
1,100 varous Personna X 2 = 2200 days
70 Gillette 7 oclock Green X 2 = 140 days
150 Croma X 1 = 150 days
40 GEM Stainless Teflon X 4 = 160 days
39 Personna Injector X 4 = 156 days (though at present, I only use these for clean up to achieve BSS in those hard to get at places)
Plus about 250 blades that I hope to die before I need them.  But if I should run out, I will only use them once and then grow a beard. So that's 250 for the reject blades.
That comes out to 31 years 3 months, not counting the Injectors because my current practice is to only use them for cleanup. And not counting the reject blades, because I have no intention of living past 103.
I know I must be missing something. Gonna go check my stashes.
95 Rapira X 3 285 days
90 Wilkinson Gillette X 2 = 180 days

Total 35 years 5 months, considering I don't shave every single day. I'm figuring 335 shaves a year.

I've got about 8 or so years worth of GSB's and a handful of other blades.

I have no clue but considering my age, I think I'm safe.  Tongue

I just did the math and the answer is:

8.653846153846154 years worth of blades remaining.

Looks like I'm going to have to use a stopwatch for that last shave.
