Got some on order myself.  Seen someone mention it was very nice but not much more. Interested in hearing what others say.

I finally started to get a handle on its scent. It's got almost a pear-like "aridness" that I noticed for the first time this morning. It's not "sweet" or very cologne-y. I think it's going to be a fascinating aftershave to "unpack."

I'm curious to try this one, I quite enjoy the Fougère Classique aftershave, reminds me a lot of Brut (and in a very good way).

YEP! I'm surprised more gentleman don't comment on the striking similarity the Fougere Classique has to Brut but it's why I barely reach for it anymore in addition to the fact that my wife is simply not a big fan.

I don't think Fougere Classique smells like brut IMO. As for Cologne Russe, I think its fantastic. My only complaint for both fougere and russe is that I wish the scent lasted longer!

Cologne Russe is excellent.  I like the citrusy start and the warmer, somewhat vanilla scented dry down.  I also wish it lasted longer.  It's also a nice toner and helps with any redness, I think.
I also have Fougere Classique, but I like Russe better.  Classique is sharper to me, and more of a grassy summer meadow type scent.

That'd be the coumarin at work. Smile The other fun bit about Cologne Russe is the methyl ionone alpha that provides a slight violet cast. It's not obvious as violet until you really think about it.

Thanks for the insight!  Now I can identify coumarin. I'll try to get the violet the next time I use Russe.
