Gentlemen,
For years I have had a running battle with boar bristle brushes for irritating my skin. A few weeks ago, thinking I would give them the a final chance, I bought several models of Semogue and Omega. I lost the battle: the boar is not for me. The only ones I'll probably keep, for an occasional visit, are the Semogue 1305 and the 830. The rest must go. I have several others somewhere in the shave den, but I will get to them one of these days. In the meantime, here are two Semogue Owners Club boar bristles brushes, used no more than five times each, if that, the ash wood handle on the left and the cherry wood handle on the right. The price is $20 each shipped U.S., or $38 for both shipped U.S. Paypal is fine; no trades, please. Thanks.

Obie,

I too am not a fan of boar; although I like my brushes to be firm, I found boars to be too firm and unyielding. I happened to pick up a lot on ebay that had an old boar handle (Culmak handle I believe). I bought it mainly for the handle; I was planning a reknot and I liked the simpleness of the handle. When I got the brush, the knot was in surprisingly good shape. I soaked it in vinegar and washed it with shampoo lathers. I have it a whirl and it's one of the softest brushes I have ever used. It might be horse hair because the tips aren't split but it doesn't resemble any horse hair brush i've ever used.

Anyways, I've rambled long enough and it occurs to me now that this should have been a PM but suffice it to say I don't like boars except for the one I have.

Hugh

The only boar that I liked was the 1305.
