So I just have a couple Qs that have been eating at me a bit and wanted your opinions on, pertaining to DRH soaps

First, does the Arlington cream smell just like the soap?  How similar/different?  (I ask because I remember reading someone say they're not very similar in scent, but no one really agreed or disagreed)

And the second is a bit longer….
About a year ago I had Arlington, Marlborough, and Windsor soaps in the wood bowls and LOVED the scents dearly.  But for whatever reason, never thought they performed all that great, so I sold them all.  Just never found them very moisturizing I guess and my skin felt drier than normal.
Then a few months ago, I had the itch to give DRH soaps another shot when I saw a local store had the Almond soap in the bowl, because I know my preferences have broadened (to the demise of my wallet) and my lathering ability has gotten more "cultured", so I ended up buying it.  I used it for my next shave, and the next shave, and the next shave because it just was WONDERFUL.  Great performer in the shave and left my skin feel great afterward, certainly not dry.
I have looked at the Almond soap's ingredients list and see that it lists sweet almond oil, but none of the other DRH soaps do.
So, the question is- Does anyone else notice that the DRH Almond soap performs better/more moisturizing than the others in the line, especially Arlington, Marlborough, and Windsor?
……… or do I just NEED TO GO BUY THEM AGAIN?  Biggrin  Angel   Wink

It's been some time since I last used the Arlington in cream form, my preference being very much towards soaps. From what I can remember, the scent in both forms is the same, although like the majority of creams, the scent in cream form is stronger.

In answer to your second question, I have used all the D.R. Harris soaps and currently have Arlington, Windsor and Sandalwood. Excluding the Naturals(avoid at all cost), I've noticed no difference in performance/post shave feel, whatsoever. What I have learned is that I get a drier post shave feel if I start with a drier brush, adding water along the way. Starting with a wetter brush and loading longer(a bit messy) does leave my skin feeling more moisturised.

So yes.......you definitely need to buy them again! Biggrin

Occam's Razor states that among competing hypotheses that predict equally well, the one with the fewest assumptions should be selected.

So yes, buy the DR Harris soaps

I can only add this to the discussion: DRH Windsor and Sandalwood Tallow soaps are some of my most favorite. They leave my face conditioned and nourished after every shave. So, I guess you have to purchase them again.  Biggrin

I just got some DRH Marlborough in today from Phil but haven't tried it yet. I'll chime back in tomorrow and let you know if it left my skin feeling moisturized.

Yes!  This is exactly what gave me the excellent shaves with the Almond soap when I got it a few months ago (but was long after I had sold the 3 cologne based scents).
And really, it is what I do with most of my hard soap now... start with a good amount of water in the brush (not dripping, but still kinda heavy), then load till the brush is loaded with moist (beginning to get silky, definitely not pasty) lather, then build the lather thicker  after it is applied onto my super-hydrated skin.  Bingo.  Until about 6 months ago when I discovered that, I used to load the soap until it was really thick, but then it would dry on my face because I could never get enough water into the lather, and it would dry my face out and got some bad shaves. Glad that's over!
