So, time to come clean. Do you ever cheat?

I do now. I was a purest when I started wet shaving—proper wet shaving, that is, using a safety razor instead of Fusion cartridges. But, now and then I cheat a little.

It’s really difficult shaving under my nose with my DE. I always seem to miss spots. And, it’s really easy to shave under my nose with the back (the single blade part) of my Fusion. So, hey, I keep one on the counter and use it sometimes to get the whiskers under my nose.

The interesting thing is how horrible the other side (the 5-blade side) feels now. I tried it out for one swipe this morning—and it was terrible. Scraped the heck out of my face. I don’t know how I used one for so long.

So, do you ever cheat a wee bit and use a cartridge?

I've tried using Ye Olde Sensor Excel twice since I turned to traditional wetshaving. Both times I were reminded of why I switched to DE and SE razors; razor rash and shave bumps galore.

However, I would not consider it cheating to use the best tool for any given job - YMMV and all that - so if the cart works for you, go ahead and use it.

I don't cheat on my wife, taxes or razors. I do however cheat on my diet from time to time.

Very rarely. I use a Personna twin cartridge ONLY for when I need a quick BBS on my chin. I don't use the Hydro5 or Fusion because they tug massively.

For me cheating is one hot towel instead of two

No return, I'd rather not shave.

No cheating of any sort here also. I do have some disposables, but I wonder why I hold onto them. Neither my wife or myself has used even one of them in years. Maybe some day I'll need to fly, maybe that's the reason. I never intend to return to them.

Only thing I cheat is death. I'll get caught eventually. I have no need or want to ever use a cartridge again. The ones I had left became property of my wife!

I will have to admit that I do, I just bought the Feather MR3 and The Bolin Webb but it was only out of necessity due to health reasons. Sometimes my hands are so shaky that I would incur a blood bath if I used anything else but thankfully those times are few and far between.

I don't. Not because I'm trying to be 'pure', I just always get better results with my proper kit.

I've always used a cartridge razor to line up my sideburns and do a final pass under my nose.

No I'll never go back rather spend the money on razors than carts , but believe it or not the razor that works best for me under my nose is my F2 fatboy .

No cheating here!  I don't want to lose my DE shaving skill that I learned.

I shave my head in the shower with a cartridge, because it's faster and I'm less likely to cut myself.  On my face it's always a straight or DE.  However, I do cheat in two ways.  First, of a rare occasion when I'm in a big hurry, I'll use canned shaving cream.  Second, when I fly and carry on luggage, I bring a cartridge razor.

I don't think there is such a thing as "cheating." The importance is having fun and enjoying your shave, whatever you shave with. I believe that TSN has a forum for safety razors, cartridge razors, and straights (but not for canned goo, thank heavens), and the last time I looked, Harrys and the Feather FII Neo were pretty nifty looking. Thank heavens there is more than an abundance of razors, soaps, and accessories to please nearly everyone.

I know this is a tongue in cheek question, but I've sworn no oath of fealty to any shaving instrument or method. Which I choose is generally based on convenience and how much time I have.

I shave with a Braun electric in the car, with a Mach 3 in the shower, or a DE (with or without a brush) in the sink. I keep very busy and rarely get enough sleep, so, as much as I like it, giving up 20 minutes of sleep for a DE shave is usually not in the cards. I'd say that generally happens 2 or 3 times a week.

Nice! Surely agreed! Couldn't have said it better myself.

I travel for work every two months or so and I usually take a Gillette Vector (Atra II clone) or a Gillette Guard. Only because of the hassle of traveling with DE blades. After a week or so of carts, I'm so ready to shave with a DE again when I get home! Most of the time, I'll skip the travel day shave and DE shave when I get home from the airport. My wife thinks I'm nuts, but it calms my nerves.
