I had posted that on UK forum but I thought you guys should know that too...
If it is in wrong sectio please move and my apologies in front

Long read but eye opener for me. Learnt hard way

Many moons ago I sold my Toggle on ebay to a chap in Dublin (thats was first time I used ebay to do such a thing) and from that sell grew a friendship. Over last 4 months we are chatting via email or FB about Razors, life, family and all the values connected to it. Basically being a Gentleman, family and Children being centre of World ( My baby boy was born end of last year) and him having few children with youngest being 2 years old.

At some point in middle in March from one word to another we came to agreement we will trade razors between us we both desire, especially my birthday was coming up end of March so I thought why not?!
He offer me a Gillette New Improved Big Fellow in mint cased condition ( My best/most comfortable/smooth/BBS razor ever) for my basically unused (twice) Feather AS-2Ds and I throw in as gift my second beloved razor Feather Portable ( my spare one as I love that razor over 3 years I acquired 3 of them). I as man of Principle I was not here for profit just razor for razor as I dont go by prices eBay dictates. If I want razor I will trade other I have no need no more even if thats mean losing some quid on it.

So off to Post Office I went to send 3 Parcel: To my friend in Australia PIF of Blades, To my friend in Belgium other razor and above trade razor to Dublin. Next day my Dublin friend send me fragment of An Post receipt as confirmation of his end of deal.

Week passed and Belgium Received Parcel
2nd Week passed email from Australia comes. Arrived sound and safe
Meanwhile I am not seeing my Gillette being delivered to me. My wife is every day at home with baby and nothing. My friend writes to me that my parcel is still not delivered too. I am stressing.....

Another week passes he tells me there is card "Sorry you were out" Hey! My razor!
Nope as he emails me at evening is Gillette being return to him as my address was incorrect.... Oh well as my Feather's are not yet being delivered he proposes to wait before he resend with I agree with him.

Time passes and nothing. Then he tells me he wants me to try Straight Razor and insist he will send me whole set as PIF as we Fellow Wet Shavers need to stick together.

So couple days after my good friend from Belgium writes to me about guy in Dublin he bought razor from. Describe as mint and it was in bad shape when he received. He tells me name( My Dublin Friend) and not to deal with him. Well now I am worried and Easter is approaching so I send him msg to contact me and nothing. Another msg Easter passes and then on Shaving group (Facebook, I joined after my Dublin friend talk me into it) one member upload video about my Dublin Friend that he stole his razor. Scenario same etc.. So I contact Guy from video and learn my Feather was proposed to him in trade!

My Dublin friend disappear from FB and emails remain unanswered.

I am trustworthy person and good hearted. I believe in people I know that the will never to nothing wrong to me. Furthermore, I love that hobby and over many years of BST I had great experience. Many members here helped me out as well as I helped them out.

This experience just broke my spirit and put me off about Wet Shaving. I just was able to shave first time after week as I didnt have heart do it.

I  look at my razor collection and I see him and my razor taken away from me. I am not rich ( sole earner to family) and it took me long time to have money to buy Feather.....

At this stage I am not sure if I want continue this hobby.

I am a Gentleman and I will not write his name here but if you attend any other groups you probably heard about him stealing from couple people at once. There is video on youtube I will not send link too.

My apologies to put my sorrow towards you guys but i thought I should share my story.

People who we trust in can deceive us too....

Thank you for this honest and pretty complete write up. It's not fair that this has happened. There is, however, a lesson that should be learned from in this. Also, i think that it could be too easy to become friends with other men in this hobby, due to it being such a great ritual amongst men. It's sad that people get taken advantage of in any regard. We all need to be careful and willing to learn from these sorry experiences.

Honestly, don't lose site of doing something you love, because of a rotten apple. Every now and then, we will all taste the fruit that should be ripe, but is actually sour.

Yup that turd's name is all over FB as a thief. He stole multiple items from several people. All I can say is try not to let one terrible person ruin your enjoyment of wet shaving. Most off the community are great people.

I am sorry you had this experience. I have made several trades with members of another forum, and have only been treated generously, and kindly. Do not let this stop you from enjoying your daily ritual. I can understand that it makes you think of your loss. All I can say is to try to shake it off. Eventually you will regain pieces to if not make up for your loss, lessen it.

" May our enemies break their legs so we know them by their limping" -old Irish proverb. Publish his information. You've been a gentleman and now need to protect others from this Dublin sewer rat.
the above proverb could be arranged for him- very easily.

Why not disclose this guy's identity?  Your benevolence is admirable but in reality you are giving an incomplete warning to your fellow wet shavers.  After all, how much consideration does a slimey toad like that deserve?

Maybe I'm naive, but on the other hand, it seems like a lot of trouble to expend all that time and energy to a relationship just to ripoff a fella's razor.

Edit- Having read the posts prior to and subsequent to this, it's clear that the perpetrator was and is a scoundrel. I still find it so, so, so bizarre that a person would go to such lengths to steal another man's razor. I mean, a razor? Someone would steal a razor? That's seriously petty larceny! What a jerk. I'm sad for the OP.

Sorry to hear of your experience with that Jack. It's the pits, but there are people like that in all walks of life. That won't make you feel any better about the experience though.

Don't protect the guilty, only protect the innocent. He doesn't sound innocent to me. Sounds more like a predator and folks need to know who he is.

Sad to say, but has my Nickle platef Senator. I have called Dublin Police and filed a report, but a razor is just petty theft and they have bigger fish to fry. I tried getting in on a post going around of the Facebook forum group, but that got me nothing. Sad to say he is a jerk...he is now going by Phillip Logan, aka Logan Phillips and probably about a dozen more names. My suggestion is to file a stolen property report with Dublin County Police. Maybe if they get enough reports they will over it up to a more serious crime. You have his address I presume? That's what I used to file the report.

I am sorry to hear about your experience. I have had many trades on the forum and all have been good. Karma will eventually deal the hand that needs dealt. Do not let the actions of one take away something you truly enjoy. There are bad people in every aspect of life, we just have to continue on and not give in.

Very sorry to hear about your bad experience. It makes me appreciate even more the trade feedback feature at TSN.

I'm sorry to hear of your experience but don't let that discourage you from enjoying a hobby.

Unfortunately, you get these type of people on various fora and I've seen it happen in my own country on a cycling forum I frequent.

shevek has it right about the importance of the feedback feature here at the Nook.  I know it takes a minute, but if we all are consistent about leaving feedback for both the buyers and the sellers (and the traders), it will make it better for everyone who BELONGS here.

Thanks to every one of my trading partners for the great transactions I've enjoyed here.  It's so helpful to be able to try stuff, and if you don't need it or like it, mark it down 30-40% or so and let another member try it. A recent buyer of a lovely Vie-Long brush was so kind as to thank me for the great deal he got on the brush ($135 list - sold to him for $80).  I was happy to get the $80 out of the brush, and he was happy to get it for that.  Everybody's happy - what a concept!

Leave feedback, and be careful about buying stuff from people with no feedback.  Let them make some purchases first, so we can have SOME basis of trusting them, based on the feedback others have left.

Thank you for kind words!

As I said I had originally posted it at UK Based forum where I liveSmile response there just put me to pieces and left me speechless. Guys there organise a fundraise to buy me Feather. Within few hours they cross threshold of require money and keep donating for extra gift to restore my faith in WS. Furthermore, one member offered his Feather from deep of his heart. It just amazing community and I was close to tears. Gesture by it self is just tremendous. It is hard to express what I feel!

Thank you for your honest words. You can hear the sadness in your voice as you read your text. I do not trust people easily myself and to hear your story bothers me. If only that person lived close..... I can assure you in my few months aboard TSN I have met some stand up people and been exposed to some great craftsmen. I agree with the others don't let this event break your spirit your surrounded by a great community of gentlemen. I'm very fortunate to have landed here.
All the best to you,

Tappan

Ted, I don't want to get political, but it has nothing to do with socialism (yet I agree with you sort of) and everything to do with empathy and kindness from strangers; basically it's the shave community which is composed of volunteers. Very few of us know each other beyond the screen in front of us. Though we may know of each other.

Jack's a stand up guy and he's benefitting from that reputation now. Kudus to you Jack!!

Phillip Logan/Logan Phillips will eventually get his even if it isn't at the hands of the law.

Sorry to hear about your stolen razor. I have always had a positive experience with trades and sales. I have even traded items (razors) without knowing what I am receiving in return. That's is the type of trust I have towards members here. I hope you return to enjoying your shaving ritual/hobby.
