Got a buddy of mine that's a fellow wet shaver and does a lot of traveling for his job. At one of his stops he had time to kill and visited the local Goodwill. He saw the case on the shelf, got curious, and opened to find this beauty. He got back in town and gave me a shout. After catching up we talked about the razor and the offer was to good to turn down.

I have never owned/used one before so I'm excited to make it my morning shave. From what I have found on line it appears to be a post war 1948-50 Aristocrat. Only flaw I can see is a small discolored spot on one door shown in pic 5. Kind of looks like a little snail lol. As luck would have it I also happen to have a NOS pack of blades that goes the set I came across about 6 months ago. I will keep them sealed for display purposes with the case.  Here's some pics!

Congratulations on the new razor, Freddie!  Are you going to name it 'snaily' or l'escargot?   Biggrin

I was actually thinking Turbo after the cartoon racing snail!  Biggrin

Was going to try to buff it out a bit but it just gave it too much character to mess with lol.

All I can say is WOW! I have tried a great deal of razors since my introduction to wet shaving and this one by far has made it all worth while. I did not realize how complacent I had gotten with my shaves. Everytime I shave I guess I was secretly hoping inside to get that feeling I had the first time I lathered and and ran a DE across my face.

Shaved with it this morning and I got that feeling. Use by Rubberset and lathered up some B&M Latha. Superb razor and shave! robk was 100% correct on they shave as good as they look!  Perfect amount of everything in my book. If by any chance you come across one don't pass on it. You won't be sorry!

Congratulations on a super find. Yes, they are one of the smoothest shaving vintage Gillette DEs out there. Found mine at the Salvation Army Store and would grab another in a heartbeat if I came across one.

Why can't I find anything like that at Goodwill?  Well... I did find a NIB Super Adjustable, but that was a mixed  blessing. I can't bring myself to tear open the package. Sad

I got one very similar Freddie. Can't post photos, but it's not as sweet as yours.

I'm thinking of having mine re-plated -- rhodium maybe. Saw some web pix of a silver plated one.

Such a lovely razor as it stands, though. I suppose gold plate would be more authentic looking.

I think I might miss the snail though, if mine had one -- but just a ding or two after all the decades.
