My first non-Mongoose shave in over 6 months, and my first time with these vintage SE razors.

I read old SE threads here on TSN dating back to 2012, and the two Brians (Krampert and Sharp) provided a wealth of information, along with others.

Have you been nipping at the whiskey, Ravi?!  Biggrin  Those SE blades are nowhere as sharp as the Feather Pros.

I look forward to the report, for me it was the OCMM and Bullet Tip.. Great shaves and just amazing their 60-80 years old.

My guess would be the Bullit Tip or the Clog Pruf.
Great razors- in fact: this inspires me to change from Pearl OC and Mongoose to the venerable GEM tomorow!

I would start with the Micromatic Bullet-Tip. One of my favourites.

But you should look for a gold-toned one, Ravi. As everybody knows, the gold ones always shave better! Laughing1

That is a beautiful set of razors. I do hope you like using them - they're among my favourite razors of all time.

In fact, I used the Featherweight yesterday and got a great shave, as usual.

I have a bunch of gems and they are great razors. The only fault I find on them is that their blades suck in comparison to the ones available for the Schick, Mongoose and DE razors.

I love the razors, but hate the blades. I can't remember which one I was able to modify a feather SE blade to fit, as a Cobra entered my life at about the same time. Some are terrific shavers, if only the blades were better.

I feel fortunate then to get along with the Gem SS blades. I always Palm strop b4 the first use which seems to get them off to a better start.

First shave : Bullet-Tip with GEM PTFE SS.

Great success.
I would liken the results to being comparable to Mongoose with Feather Pro; perhaps a touch smoother.

Amazing really, considering this razor:blade design is over 100 years old.
