I switched to Mystic Waters' Vetiver & Oakmoss and paired it with AoS sandalwood balm tonight. Great combo IMO, and I got a good shave from the MWs.

I decided to jump to Mickey Lee Soapworks Kraken, even though I only had two shaves on Mystic Waters. How's everyone else's holiday shave going? Smile

how does MLS Kraken smell to you. I have the aftershave milk and it reminds me of Drakkar Noir. It has been years since I have smelled Drakkar, but that the first impression I got. Just curious about your impression.

I am sticking with CRSW Olivia Colonia Mediterrania. I hit the bottom of the container so I am going to finish it off. Maybe another 10 days.

Just curious, I love a lot of the CRSW v1 and v2 scents but have found the soap base from OLIVA is more compatible with my skin. Have you used v1 or v2 soaps?

I took a small break from shaving as I went camping up at Lost Lake.  I did take some shaving gear, but didn't find a good time for a shave (no water at the campsite).  Back to the normal routine this morning though and am going to take another stab at finishing off the MLS Panty Dropper.  I may just 3017 this thing as it is but a small ring around the base of the container at this point.  I'll try and get a picture to show what I'm up against.

It's been a while since I last used a V2. Whenever the Sandalwood came out in the Acai wood bowl. I find Olivia to be very good. I usually prefer tallow soaps. I am not comfortable enough to give a comparison as I can't remember the V2. I do like how Olivia washes off my razors, no residue.

I have never smelled Drakkar to compare it. I like Kraken, it's a definite aquatic scent that reminds me a little bit of Maggard London Barbershop (like it's a blend of the scents). I prefer B&M Oceana a little more even though it isn't as complex; my wife prefers Kraken.

I had to rearrange the soap as the doughnut shaped puck wasn't loading without considerable effort.  Using my finger I scooped the soft soap from around the edge and formed a mound in the middle.  In the past, this has made loading much easier, but also has indicated a near demise of the soap.  I don't expect this soap to last very much longer now so will continue use until gone.  Mickey Lee makes a great soap and will remain on my short list of soaps to re-buy if they are still around in ~ 10 years when I need to restock.

That's what I always do when the donut hole gets too large.  Lay it out essentially flat but with a slight mound in the center.  You're right, it means you are near the end, although in some cases there are maybe 20 shaves left in a soap when I rearrange it.

Finished off the Mickey Lee soap yesterday with a fantastic shave from my freshly honed Imperial Razor.  The shave was so good I just did a one pass ATG using AoS Sandalwood Cream sans brush.  I feel terrible, like I cheated on my brush collection, but it was sufficient for a quick start to the week.  Don't know what my SAW will be, but maybe I should grab something new to fill in the MLSW hole.

I started the week this morning with CRSW's Citron.  I haven't yet decided whether to have a go at it this week or whether to change up according to my whim.

While rummaging through the bathroom drawer of opened soaps I ran across my vintage Czech and Speake No.88 puck and have settled on using that for the rest of the week.  The scent is phenomenal and the performance matches.  This puck was made in England, according to the packaging, but is very similar to the current Italian offering.

Nice.  C&S soaps are amazing.

I decided to go ahead and stick with the CRSW Citron for this week's shaves.  I enjoyed it immensely this morning.  Lathered up with a synthetic brush.  Lather is dense, rich, shiny, and slick.  Smell is heavenly.  Not a lot to complain about with this soap.

Today I used the Trader Joe's Shave Cream, which is brushless. I used it with a cartridge to get the whole effect. It felt more slick after I rinsed the skin, than with the lather on my face. It will not get used for a week, just today.

More importantly, today is the milestone of finishing my "Purchase Order" Soap-a-week, a journey I started on Thanksgiving. Some soaps that I bought/traded after starting this idea got used ahead of schedule (which means I used all of my soaps by 8/17), but I went back at the end and used them in order to hit the end today, 9/12. You can click the "Spoiler" to see the whole journey.

How would you describe the scent? I haven't tried CRSW but Citron is one that I'm tempted to make my first.

It's really hard for me to describe.  There is a bit of citrus on top, but it's muted.  Below it is just a really nice, smooth, green-ish scent.  Honestly, I'm really at a loss for words.  It just smells like a very sophisticated cologne.

I get citrus top notes with a bit of a cedar note.  I like to use Penhaligon's Blenheim Bouquet when I use it if that gives you any idea.

Thanks, Nathan.  Yes, I think there is a nice cedar tone to it.

Thanks guys.

B&M Leviathan was a good shave last night. There's a hole wore through, so I decided (like we were discussing) pressing in from the edge to the center. B&M (2013 white container formula) is firmer than MW so it wasn't as easy or clean. But it worked.
