I have had the luxury of using all 3 200 gram glass pot versions of MDC as my daily goto shave soaps. (had them all as backups in my den, so why not start to enjoy as my daily everyday man soaps, when I have 200+ soaps and creams in my den)

The thing I have found is that the MDC Fougere scent does not seem to give me quite the same quality shaves I get with the Unscented and the Original MDC.

I also prefer the Orginal scent over the Fougere, even though both scents are fine.

Perhaps it's the lavender in the Original that gives me a better glide during the shave and added cushion. Perhaps I'm mildly allergic to something in the Fougere, who know - I just find that I enjoy and prefer the Original more than the Fougere.

So I'm replacing the Fougere with LPL Original as my goto daily shave soap, hope it will give me lots of great shaves  Biggrin

Does anyone of you feel the Original formula of MDC gives you a better shave than the Fougere does ?

I didn't notice any difference. In fact, I was slightly disappointed that there wasn't that much difference even in the scent!

Claus, I found no noticeable difference in the quality of the lather, but I did find the Fougere a tad stronger in scent, but not by much. However, that was over 2 years ago, I believe.  Biggrin
Enjoy the soap!

The scents are day & night to me. Fougére is fresh & light, Original is thicker and herbal.

Enjoy the soap!

I get prefect lather from both. But the Fougére is less moist and has less cushion for me. Still great, but a step down imho

I find both the original and fougere to be outstanding soaps. I prefer the fougere scent most days. I did not notice a difference between the two in quality.

I feel uniquely qualified to comment here having used a Brain Bowl (Original Lavender) for the past 28 shaves consecutively. I find no lathering, performance differences between the two---excellent. Both MdCs' formulas (I have NOT tried the unscented) leave my skin a bit dry. The lavender scent is nice, but I am growing tired of it, it's too one-dimensional. For my taste, the fougère is more pleasing. When the experiment is over, I am PIF'ing my Brain Bowl. (already spoken for  Cool )
It was an impulse purchase that I will not be repeating.

I consistently marvel at the great fresh scent of the fougere.  guess at my age I cant discern a difference in the two shave qualities.  still this soap deserves all the praise.

Primo, you see what happens when using ONE product for 30 days!  Well, at least, you went through that Brain Bowl, enthusiastically!  Biggrin

After 30 consecutive uses, I OWN that soap. I could lather it in my sleep.  Sleep

To me, the overriding scent for both is that famous MdC "tar" scent, which I believe to be lavender. I absolutely hated it at first, but have since grown to like it OK. There is a nuanced difference between the two soaps, but the MdC base scent is so pronounced that it dominates for me.

Haha! This is what I thought it smelled like to me for the longest time; no offence to those who like it, of course.  Biggrin

I prefer the original scent. It sort of has a clay smell. to my senses. I suppose the Fougere has that underpinning as well, but I prefer the original.

I have all there and do they smell different! Even the unscented version has some rudimentary "vibes." I have been using them for the past few months, but still cannot find any difference in performance.

Concerning  Lpl  rose de pushkar, some mentioned one batch was discernably weaker in performance.  It sounds like a differing batch, doesn't it?

I'm still a MdC Fougere man but I won't be able to stop myself from picking up the Original scent soon, as well as LPL

Agreed. While the Original and Fougere are somewhat similar to my nose, the Original is the more pleasant of the two.
