I have had the luxury of using all 3 200 gram glass pot versions of MDC as my daily goto shave soaps. (had them all as backups in my den, so why not start to enjoy as my daily everyday man soaps, when I have 200+ soaps and creams in my den)
The thing I have found is that the MDC Fougere scent does not seem to give me quite the same quality shaves I get with the Unscented and the Original MDC.
I also prefer the Orginal scent over the Fougere, even though both scents are fine.
Perhaps it's the lavender in the Original that gives me a better glide during the shave and added cushion. Perhaps I'm mildly allergic to something in the Fougere, who know - I just find that I enjoy and prefer the Original more than the Fougere.
So I'm replacing the Fougere with LPL Original as my goto daily shave soap, hope it will give me lots of great shaves
Does anyone of you feel the Original formula of MDC gives you a better shave than the Fougere does ?

Enjoy the soap!
I get prefect lather from both. But the Fougére is less moist and has less cushion for me. Still great, but a step down imho

I feel uniquely qualified to comment here having used a Brain Bowl (Original Lavender) for the past 28 shaves consecutively. I find no lathering, performance differences between the two---excellent. Both MdCs' formulas (I have NOT tried the unscented) leave my skin a bit dry. The lavender scent is nice, but I am growing tired of it, it's too one-dimensional. For my taste, the fougère is more pleasing. When the experiment is over, I am PIF'ing my Brain Bowl. (already spoken for
)
It was an impulse purchase that I will not be repeating.

Primo, you see what happens when using ONE product for 30 days! Well, at least, you went through that Brain Bowl, enthusiastically!

The scents are day & night to me. Fougére is fresh & light, Original is thicker and herbal.
To me, the overriding scent for both is that famous MdC "tar" scent, which I believe to be lavender. I absolutely hated it at first, but have since grown to like it OK. There is a nuanced difference between the two soaps, but the MdC base scent is so pronounced that it dominates for me.

Haha! This is what I thought it smelled like to me for the longest time; no offence to those who like it, of course.

Even the unscented version has some rudimentary "vibes." I have been using them for the past few months, but still cannot find any difference in performance.
