Don't laugh, but the country I was raised in did not have television when I was a youngster.  I left in my late teens to attend university and television still hadn't been introduced.  I did, however, make up for my childhood deprivation at university, finding television watching a first class displacement activity.

"Rate mal mit Rosenthal" and
"Dalli Dalli"

Here you can see the opening of a Dalli Dalli show:

A short example, below translation:

Now if you could interview Napoleon today, with  Radio and TV around (gesture of importance) What would you ask him?

(two prominent German show talents answering)

Tommy: What he has in his hand, hiding...
Mike: Do you have no gloves?
Tommy: How come his frontal hair is always curling like this...
Mike: Dou you like to eat apples?
Tommy: Why he wears his hat around like this and not straight...
Mike: Do you like to eat pears?
Tommy: How it was on Elba
Mike: Do you like to fly?
Tommy: How many women he knew in his life...
Mike: Do you like to go by ship?
Tommy: What he has been drinking..
Mike: What kind of car do you like?
Tommy: If he likes to go in a movie theatre
Mike: Do you like to eat carrots?

Such a quiet & sober surroundings, I have watched part of a broadcast of the time and the commercials were interrupted by proprietary cartoons. More laid back and high signal to noise..Smile

THE ADDAMS FAMILY- Morticia initiated the first mysterious stirring of my loins

THE AVENGERS- Mrs Peale see above

THE CISCO KID- A Chicano dealing with Pochos who never killed anyone

THE TWILIGHT ZONE- Rod Sterling dressing and standing like The Rat Pack with something to say

ROCKY AND BULLWINKLE Natasha Fatale reprising Morticia and Mrs Peale

title forgotten? A show sponsored by  Phillip Morris tobacco company that brought classical music performances in grainy BW. My older brother played wretched teenthrob RR and thought blondes were it. I discovered MARIA CALLAS.
I like lithe, raven haired women.

I've never heard of most of these shows... Except for most of the ones C-no Evil mentioned.

Chances are when people say Batman they mean this one:

Not this one:
