Very interested to hear how these perform. I always thought a flat top requires a short loft, but perhaps a D01 can hold firm. Let us know!

You didn't by chance take a pic of the knots before they went in, did you?

The brushes look great, nice job on both of them.  Does the BK8 still have some room between the knot and the handle?  Most of them have a knot that allows a lot of wiggle room or seems smaller then the handle can take.

I'm guessing it's a BK4 given that the Merkur (21x50) brush seems to take up the same volume in his palm as the Kent in his photo, plus my AP8 and BK8 were both 26mm knots and looked bigger.

But that's an interesting point Bruce, the Kent knot in my BK8 had what I thought to be a good bit of wiggle room compared to quite a few of the other brands and few of the artisans I've been able to sample where all exact fittings of the knot inside the bore.

You're sure it's not a BK4 ?

BK8 handle has a 26 mm knot hole.......

Those look great! The flat top on the Merkur Futur looks very retro. I hope you will post some bloom shots.
Enjoy in good health. Biggrin

I measured a 24mm hole for the BK8 (and it is a BK8, for those wondering). So I ordered a 23mm knot.
I will take another look to see how much space I might have remaining. The other Merkur handle was a much tighter fit, whereas this knot went straight in without resistance. Maybe I could have put a 24mm knot in the Kent.
Regardless, I would not want this brush in anything over a 23mm, as the Flat shape makes it much bigger.
Will post more picks today for sure, Gents!
My brushes appreciate your kind comments Smile

That makes sense @Nero. I have read, no experience, that flat tops feel bigger then they are and shouldn't be ordered too large.

Let us know how they work. Shavemac is the only one I know who offers them, not sure why.

Even a 23mm Shavemac may be larger at opening of handle.

Here's a pic showing I prolly wouldn't want to order anything bigger than 23mm (24mm might fit, but would be quite tight and risky):
