This is a phenomenal opportunity. As someone who has used a 2/1 for several years, I would tell anyone who has not experienced a classic English silvertip brush to not let this pass you by.

Some early reviews on another forum, are many are reporting them scratchy and floppy.

YMMV and all that.

It's all academic for us Bruce since he won't ship to Canada or to other addresses outside the USA.  We must live vicariously.

...and others that seem to be getting soft and moderately dense.  It looks like Rooney Super has gone the way of Simpson Best.  At those prices its definitely worth the gamble, but since I already have a decent number of "good" ones I decided to pass.  A few pics posted looked like they had curled tips which would be a brush I would welcome into my house any day!

VB's inventory comes from several batches over the years. There's definitely differences in scritch level across batches, based on some brushes I own and the reports of others.

Not quite sure what the FB post was alluding to on VB page. It says the relationship has ended. Is Rooney even still making these type of brushes or only doing the heritage super line?

I don't really follow facebook. What did it say? Different than what is on VB's site?

Quote:After 10 years of working with R.A. Rooney we have come to the sad conclusion that our relationship has finally come to an end.  As a result, we have decided to sell off our remaining inventory of the “original” Rooney shaving brush that was introduced to the public when Lee Sabini resurrected the brand almost 20 years ago.

Correction....Lee Sabini is now focusing on Paladin. Blush

I don't think we'll see as many M&F's as we have in the past, but that's just my guess.

Anyone else get brushes from this sale? Wondering the style, sizes and actual measurements you've ended up with. Thanks!

Sad to see Rooney go the way of the dodo. I had some good times stalking VB years ago. Somebody hop on that vintage used Emillion for a mere $299!

Do we know if they are gone or just no longer in partnership with VB?

$300 for a used one...pass. Makes me glad I didn't even look in to buying a new one and have it shipped to the USA. That's just plain greedy. Even at 40% off $299, it's too much.

I was thinking this too.  Maybe the "regular" Rooney line will just be for wholesale re-branding (i.e. Truefitt & Hill, D.R. Harris, and the like) and Rooney will only release the "Heritage" line in their own name.

The answer is simple, we just have to ask the magic man, Mr. Sabini...
