I'll be honest, I had been growing tired of a couple of the guys on here (hi Nero) ranting and raving about the performance of the new AdP shaving cream (mine is more like a croap) in tub. I decided to pick some up and see how it goes. I've probably tried everything out there, and I'm a huge fan of the older formulation. I must say, I was really expecting to take this one back to Nordstrom after one try because I think most reformulations are often for the worse and because it's tough for me to stomach the idea of the high cost for an unscented shaving croap from a noted fragrance house. To be fair, I don't think it is truly unscented, but rather weakly scented with something pleasant but tough to describe. Nevertheless, tonight I gave it a shot.

The performance of the soap is simply otherworldly. Absolutely incredible. I was initially discouraged that it does not lather as profusely as the previous generation, but the shave was simply flawless. The lather was not particularly thick, but I found it to be shockingly protective and slick. I don't think I can recall a more comfortable shave. The last time I had felt so impressed with a product is when I tried the old formulation XPEC. I don't post much and I am often underwhelmed by the "next great thing" in shaving, but this one is certainly worthy of the (actually minimal) hype I have seen. I suspect the price is going to be an enormous barrier to entry for most shavers, but it is truly a luxury for those who choose to indulge.

Agree 100%, Amir.

AdP new formulation has a nice, neutral, light and refreshing 'cool' scent.
Performance is remarkable in all aspects.

It's outstanding.

Thank you, sir!
I am starting to see my ranting and raving pay off- I'm so glad you and others have indulged and see what I am talking about.
Your review is SPOT ON, and you know I especially like the reference to the old XPEC. Thanks for your thoughts!
You have me thinking I really need to use this next week for my Soap-a-Week... it's been too long since I've used it and I would love to use it for a week straight.

Really ?  Descriptions I've read of new/current  AdP point to it being a cream. I had a chance to see it myself in a dept. store and it was definitely more like a cream, not unlike a classically soft English/Creighton cream.

The term "croap" is kinda vague. But I think the tub is just a "firmer/more concentrated cream" and not a "soft soap" (B&M).

Does anybody know if the shave cream in the plastic squeeze container is the same as the jar?  Been thinking about picking one up for travel.

I now feel like a moron for having bought the old formula if the new one is better.  This forum plays too many tricks on my wallet.

The old formula is very liked because of the scent which the new formula does not have. Don't worry old formula is excellent enjoy it. If u decide you want the new formula maybe we can work out a trade ?

Coconut Acid vs Coconut Oil????? Not sure of the difference.

I had shaved with the  old formula and loved the scent. Performance was nice as well but didn't blow me away. The post shave was rather nice.

Not really sure of the difference between the coconut acid and coconut oil, either.
But other differences in formulations are the inclusion of Palm oil in the jar and the different placement of Aqua (water) and myristic acid. Also, menthol vs menthyl cocoate. Maybe a couple others too.
