So I obtained a New Deluxe Criterion that was incredibly worn, badly cracked at the neck, and literally had the diamond pattern of the main tube very worn from who knows 50 years of daily shaves?

Really, I've never seen one that was in quite the state this was.  I don't think that's a bad thing.  Obviously someone loved this razor and used it near to death.

At the same time we all know Gillettes just keep on ticking.  After much consideration I reached the decision that the collector value was pretty well impacted and so... I was going to do what I do to it, for my own personal use.  The crack was silver soldered and polished down.  It was carefully sandblasted to not remove any more of the diamond checkering or impact the serial number which had a very light strike on the first digit. It was then Gun Koted in a custom mixed copper color and satin black, then the whole thing was hit with clear.

So with that said, I thought I'd show it to you guys.  Razor 150200 was reborn.  I know this approach isn't for everyone but I'm very pleased with the end result.  I wish I'd take before pictures.  But I didn't.  Hope you enjoy looking at it and happy to hear your thoughts.

Love it!  Did everything you did to it affect the shave?  Does it still glide or does the clear make it sticky at all?  Just curious as I have considered similar actions to some of my rougher looking pieces.

Thanks for the post
Very interesting to me.

Because the clear is also the same basic material as the rest of the coating, it makes it almost glass like.  If you get it cured correctly there should be no stickiness.

So did you do all the work yourself or did you in-list someone?

Yes, my work.  Did firearms for years.  Decided to apply the same approach to razors.

Bravo.   Clap  Unique and personal.
Here's a maybe a dumb question, assuming you shaved with this razor before restoring: Did the multiple layers of coating, color, etc. have any effect on the position or angle of the blade, however minute, and did you notice how the razor performed before and after? Was there any difference?  Sherlock
