I can't resist my big brush AD and ordered one.
It's not for display purpose like Vulfix #38.
Wonder how it actually performed.
Seems densely packed knot on photo.

What a humongous brush!  I don't think it will have much backbone as all of the Frank Shaving 2-Bands I have tried didn't have much backbone. However, it should help you go through your soap collection, very quickly. Smile
Good luck.

I couldn't imagine paying $140+ for a Franks....but maybe that's just me.

Not to mention it will be too big for almost every soap container or dish, hard to control on the face and waste a ton of product.

I have had mixed luck with Frank's. I have one brush that is utterly amazing. I have another that sheds so bad it's not usable. I have a third that is just... Meh. I'd love to try a brush that's that big, but I would hate to get a shedder. Frank is not known for accepting returns.

Of COURSE I Bought one.....

My 38mm (actually, 39mm) Frank brush arrived yesterday. First the good news...

1. It took only 6 days to arrive from China.
2. It has a very dense knot.
3. It has a nice, solid backbone.
4. Despite its overwhelming size, the knot didn't bloom/splay too much.

Now the less-than-good news.

1. It's a serious soap hog (but I expected that)
2. It shed about 10 hairs on my test-lather (but I expected that too).
3. I had to use a soap that came in a wide-diameter container. It would probably be difficult to load from a smaller container.
4. The construction/appearance has me a bit puzzled.

The grain (hair direction) looks quite different in the center of the knot than around the perimeter (see pic). It looks like it may have been made by adding hair around the perimeter of an existing knot. Those inner hairs also seemed to be lighter in color - as though they had been bleached while the other hairs had not. After I used the brush, the color difference wasn't visible, but that may change after the knot has dried completely.

The appearance of the knot reminds me of the saying about trying to stuff 10 lbs. of sh*t into a 5 lb. bag.

That "little" brush next to it is my Simpson Chubby 3.

I'll try to get a pic or two the next time I use it.

Meanwhile, the knot has dried and now looks perfectly normal. The hair was a bit stiff and "crunchy" after it  dried, but that may have been because I didn't rinse it thoroughly enough (this knot soaks up a LOT of water!). I re-rinsed it this morning and I'm hoping it softens up a bit.
