I just received this new shave soap from RazoRock (Italian Barber) after being disappointed several times trying to order it from their website. Each time I had it in my basket and checking out a pop up said sold out. Very frustrating but the 3rd attempt was a charm and glad I hung in there. I have tried a few RazoRock soaps and liked them all but this exceeded my expectations. First off the size of the jar along with the soap weighs in at a whopping 1.4 lbs. The soap alone weights 8.5 oz enough to last a very long time. The glass jar is of the heavy duty variety type and might make a great shaving bowl eventually unless the soap out lives me. The soap has a tobacco scent highly perfumed but excellent. Because this soap contains lanolin not only does it lather easily but also left a slick feeling which is perfect for a smooth comfortable shave. So for $19.99 this is got to be a bargain purchase.

Thanks for sharing. Is it a cream or a soap? How is the menthol?

The scent is somewhere between the new SMN Crema da Barba and the older more eucalyptus/menthol/ camphor scent of the original SMN.

I have used this Razorock now twice and lathered it 5 times or so and I will make a bold statement --- it may be better than both the original and new versions of SMN and I honestly believe it to be as good as any cream or soap I have tried --- that includes the two mentioned above, AdP, AbCBA hard soap, XPec original and pretty much any other soap you can plug in to here --> ( )

For $19.99 it may be the best deal on a premium shaving soap I have ever scored --- I would gladly pay twice that if it became Joe's asking price.....YMMV

Tobacco with a very nice perfume fragrance. Just a hint of menthol. The key ingredients is the lanolin.

I took a break from my Haslinger to give mine a two day test....Phenomenal. Two pass 1g per shave (based on my 2 g sample I removed from my jar), but I'll probably use a bit more when I crack open a full jar.

Lanolin is the last I ingredient, so I'm not sure much it comes into play, but it probably does. If anyone remembers RR888 & KL, now those you could sure feel the lanolin post shave.

For $20, presentation, size, scent, ingredients, performance....I'm glad I got some. Whether it's actually made by SMN or not, Joe is currently keeping it under wraps, it is a great performing product.

As for scent, I get some of the AI perfumey tobacco flower with Vanilla. There was a few SOTD pics that had it paired with AI. Not overpowering or as strong as AI but stronger then most all other RR soaps I have experienced. It blows the Tobacco 1 & 2 that RR has out of the water.

I wonder if it's the clone of SMN but no one answered.
If it's not a clone, the name is deceiving.

Lots of soaps borrow their names and a liking to who they are based on. RR isn't the first one to do it.

No one will buy this soap thinking they are buying SMN, if they do, they need to give their head a shake.

I've come to my own conclusion that homages/copying/knocking off/etc does not bother me. Everything that's ever been created is a tiny percentage original, but mostly influenced by things that already exist. Anyone that thinks they have created something completely original is giving themselves too much credit. This is just how society works. You see something you like, you incorporate it and it influences what you do. Copying is how ideas propagate, and the subtle changes layered on are how thing progress/evolve.

I heard there will be more. Not sure if that means another small batch or full production.

There is a quite well known saying:

I think this applies to RazoRock soaps  Biggrin

Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery

I own 4 RR soaps and might buy another 2 in the near future. I have no problems with hhis imitations of other expensive soaps.

He does not hide that he obviously is trying to copy  the soap.

Joe does a good job in bringing in products from artisan at affordable prices . For example : I bought bunch of bath soaps from Saponoficio verisiano and paid twice included shipping .
Joe/razorock introduced same quality bath soaps from same artisan for $2 each soap . I am happy with the quality of my choice of artisan and joes price .

I didn't want to derail a thread here . Just sharing an example in favor of joe.

Sorry if I'm continuing the derailment, but could you tell me if these are the ones you're referring to?
