I just received this brush from BST, thanks Jeff.  This is a Truefitt & Hill 3/1 (re-branded Rooney). The handle is beautiful and the knot is incredible, more than I was expecting. First lather didn't lose any hairs and already feels very soft.  I'm looking forward to many fine shaves.

Yes he did.... I have the same colour but a 3/3 made around 2010/2011.

Very good, thanks for the info. Is this the same knot he puts in "Finest" brushes now?

Thanks everyone.

The bloom on this brush is huge for a 22mm knot.  As large or larger than many of my 24-26mm knots. The shape of the knot gives great control of the lather.

The face feel is soft with a hint of scrubby scritch, but nothing unpleasant or prickly.  Should I expect the knot to soften up after more uses? I asked in another post if this is the same hair that Lee puts in the 'Finest' M&Fs. Either way this is a stellar knot.

It whipped up the Mystic Water Rose Sandalwood like nobody's business.  Easy creamy.

The handle is quite comfortable to hold, beautiful to look at, and a fine addition to the den. It's my first and only onyx handle.

I believe Lee's Finest knots are of a two band nature.  What you have there is a three band Silvertip knot.  Beautiful brush and particularly nice handle!

As to whether it will soften up or not.  Most brushes do if they are brand new soften up a bit after multiple uses.  Some take longer than others.  You can hasten the process by rubbing it vigorously on a dry bath towel after rinsing dry when you've finished using it.  Even after some drying occurs after use rub it some more on a dry towel.  I've found this helps in the breaking in process.

If you purchased the brush used and it has already been used quite a few times by the original owner, odds are it won't change much more with regards to it's characteristics.

I have a 3/1 with similar 3-band Silvertip hair and while it may have softened a tad over time, it retains a hint of that scrubby feedback.

I like variety in my brushes from zero scritch to a little. I don't want all my brushes to feel the same. A hint of scrubby feedback is great.

No it isn't... totally different batch & grade of hair,I have a couple of Rooney's, T & H along with M & F of these some are 3band  others are 2band.

I also find the T & H " Rooney " 3 band not to be as dense & has a much taller loft...

Hope this helps.
