After being told over and over again that alum is essential, I figure it's due time to get a hold of some.

How long would two 70 gram blocks of alum, used daily on the face and head, last? Also, does the brand of alum matter much? I currently have my eyes on the Turkish alum Ali Biyikli Cilt Sapi. Is this quality alum, or should I get something else?

Thanks.

I've had the same RazoRock Alum Stick for almost a year and use it daily, so it should last quite a while.

I went through with buying two 70 gram blocks of it and 20 single-use sticks of it.

Alum supposedly expires after a while so I didn't want to get too much of it.

From what I understand, the higher clarity the alum has, the more pure it is. I have Block Osma alum, which I've had since January, and it still looks more or less the same as when I bought it, with pretty much daily use. It's also very clear compared to other brands I have seen.

I've had a block of Classic Shavings Alum for about five years and it really hasn't shrunk too much from use.

Hi

It's generally advised, recommended to get Potassium Alum for use in shaving over Ammonium Alum, see here for some details...

Also +1 for "the higher clarity the alum has, the more pure it is."

Take care, Mike

+1 for the Bloc Osma. Goes a long way. Just don't drop it on a hard surface. (Ask me how I know).

The Crystals Roll-on deodorant is potassium alum , and has aloe in it.

Take the roll-on over your palm for a few seconds,
gently dab/rub face.

let it sit for about 3 minutes, gently rinse-off with cold water. it is a clear liquid.
