That's right IMO the r41 (13) is no longer the most aggressive razor. That title belongs to the ikon tech. First shave from the tech was amazing. If the 13 r41 is a 9.5 or 9 I would put the tech at an 11 easy. The looks and name of this razor are misleading but it is a beast! If you apply any pressure other than weight of the handle you will get bit. I got one weeper from placing the razor to hard on upper lip to begin a stoke. 2 pass with 0 cleanup and the results are equal to a good straight shave. Aggressive razor lovers need to try this razor now IMO its the king of the hill.

Going to add I would not recommend getting this razor unless you have some experience with more aggressive razors or if your 100% confident in your technique. Best way I can describe this razor is if the merkur future went to say 9-10 instead of 6 the shave feels a lot like that of the futur, but the head is easily controlled.

I agree that is why I use a lightweight handle to match the head. It even rivals the 2011' R41 but smoother.

I totally agree comparing the 2013 R41 with the Shavecraft Tech but I just remembered using another razor I rank as numero uno in aggression. Very difficult shaving with the brute.

Make no mistake this razor is a beast and its going to be a lot for some to handle. I have a very thick coarse beard and this razor could give me a one pass shave. That being said it will cut you easy as well and needs respect.

It's an awesome razor, aggressive and still reasonably smooth.

This doesn't bode well for me since I don't like aggressive razors. Nonetheless, I will be interested in trying it once it arrives in a few weeks.  Biggrin

Ive got to try it with different blades but with the polsilver I really didn't feel the blade. Things may get interesting with the roughness of a new feather. Had a weird sensation when this razor was going down my chin it almost felt like the blade had suction on my skin. Hard to describe the feeling I'm talking about it was the feeling of all the stubble the length of the edge all being removed in one swipe. I really wish the head was stainless though. The tolerance between head and handle make a snug fit, and could easily be cross threaded  I highly suggest the small counterclockwise turn to make sure your threads are good before tightening the handle.

That's it. I have a hard time believing that plain looking razor head is as aggressive as members are saying. Very interesting. Doubt

Yes, same here. I have been shaving with R41 2013 for past 2 years, although aggressive, but I get a BBS in one pass and few touch ups. Mild razors just don't do it for me.

Like you, even I am thinking if I need to try this.  Hmm

Not sure how I'll explain this to my R41.

That's the razor, I'll be honest when I got the r41 I felt as if the razor was overhyped. I love the r41 its my favorite razor though. This ikon is the real deal it is a BEAST. Trust me , I love aggressive razors and this one delivers.

I'm not one to exaggerate, I bought the razor because of the internet hype saying it was as or more aggressive than the 11 r41. I've never shaved with the 2011 r41, but the members on THIS FORUM who stated anything like that about this razor you can take it to the bank IMO. This forum the members don't have that bad habit of talking out of their rear ends, so if they tell you something believe it. (Not referring to myself)

Connaught has a lot of great deals if you have the patience.  I just priced this and it would be ~$60 shipped for the head from them where the head and an OSS handle from Ikon are $75 shipped.  Not that I need any more handles (or razors for that matter).

I got mine for free shipping if you haven't purchased I'll let you know where. Well I might of had to have a minimum order , and I bought like 23 save soap samples worth a shot though.
