So I have officially lost my mind by even thinking of letting this baby go. My favorite razor and a Beautiful Shaver. However, I NEED to try a Cobra Classic or Mongoose. I am willing to part with this Terrific one of a kind razor for what I seek. This was plated by ATT and is a G1 (1961) Fat Boy.

I will also throw in NEW and Sealed DE Feather Blades in trade for some SE Blades. Keep in mind this Razor is much prettier in person!! I will only trade for a Razor in similar Pristine Condition as this Fat Boy.

Thanks!

Good luck for your trade but I doubt someone will trade a cobra for a fatboy, even a rhodium replate : price is perhaps the same more or less but rarity not  Sad

Yea who knows what will come of this! Either way, I will be happy to keep my Fat Boy! I don't even see myself keeping this thread up for long. Just giving it a shot. What ever the shaving gods have in store for me, I will accept as my fate.

Good luck. Tried it 3 weeks ago and no bites.

None of my business, but if you haven't tried SE shaving, the Cobra won't be one that will show you what SE shaving is like.  In my opinion, the Cobra is much more like straight razor shaving than SE shaving... I'm sure some will disagree with me.  The Mongoose on the other hand will show you what SE shaving is like (EXPENSIVE SE shaving  Smile  ).  Again, none of my business, but try a GEM 1912, Damaskeene or Micromatic and you'll see the wonders of SE shaving.  Hope you find what you want.

Thank you for that advice sir! I will see if there is a Mongoose out there. Maybe the CC isn't for me after all, although I am really contemplating getting into SR shaving. I'll give it a couple more days.

As far as SR shaving goes...don't contemplate, just do it!! The rewards are worth it.

Seems to be the word around town!! I haven't gotten a SR yet because I don't feel I am 100% ready to take the time to learn.

Mongoose with a Feather Pro Guard is an easy razor to learn - not much harder than EJ DE89 or a Gillette Tech.  You won't have any significant issues learning this razor.

For this reason I want to try an SE first. I figure the leaning curve can't be all that difficult. Thanks David!

Shouldn't a razor plated in black rhodium be black? I am a complete plating-noob, so I am just asking to learn.

Pictures don't show the Quality and Beauty of this razor and I don't feel I will end up with a trade in the end so let's WITHDRAW this Baby! Feel free to PM if you have a Polished Mongoose and we can still work something out.

I would still strongly encourage you to try SE shaving. Spend somewhere between $8 - $15 to buy you a GEM, STAR or Ever-Ready SE razor and a box of GEM/Personna stainless steel SE blades and spend some time learning.  Great shaving experience... lots of fun!
