Gentlemen,

I have been working on the novel since 4:00 a.m., and now it's 12:00 p.m., and I'm fried, and so I took a break and updated photos of my humble shave den for 2015. Please forgive my indulgence.

I always enjoy looking at the photos of your shave den, and wish that I had access to it for about a month, so that I could try everything. I see that you've added a couple of DE's and an SE, and a few new soaps, from your last update. I love the variety of strops--do you have a favorite?

Gentlemen,

Thank you for the kind words. That's my little corner of heaven, where I fade away every morning for an hour or so. For me, it is a ritual seven days a week.

Richard, At one time I had 10 strops, including three Kanayamas, Neil Miller, Tony Miller, SRD, Mountain Mike, Illinois, Tolorf and several others, and about 80 straights and 30 or so DE razors. That was overdoing it, I thought.

Now I have trimmed the straights to about 15 — about six are for sale. The DEs include 6 Gillettes, 2 ATT, 2 Wolfman, 1 Mongoose and 1 Merkur 34C. My Gillettes and the Merkur 34C are for sale, because I rarely use them. My favorites are the Mongoose and the two Wolfmann. I like the ATT razors, too, but not as much.

As for the strops, I am down to an SRD 3" Bridal, two Illinois barber style, one of which is dedicated to stropping after honing, the other one for sale, and one Tony Miller 2.5", also fo rsale. I loved my Neil Miller shell cordovan, although I no longer have it. I also love the Tolorf strops. I sold the 2.5" and am now awaiting my 3" barbers style (no handle) Tolorf. My favorite strops? Well, they would have to be Neil Miller 3" shell cordovan with genuine linen and Tolorf 3" oil tanned horse with genuine linen.

I am down to a small number of brushes, too: 4 simpson, 2 Thater, 2 Rooney and 1 Plisson synthetic. I might reduce that, too.

Such fun.

I've seen this den evolve over the years and the quality of the straight razor acquisitions is the most impressive part to me. I always wonder , where does he find them ? Smile

Gentlemen,

Thank you again for the kind words. Sometimes my wife shuffles into the shave den, looks around and says, "They grow like rabbits." But, as I noted earlier, I have trimmed the shave den considerably and still have a little more trimming to do. It's my attempt to simplify life a wee bit more. Oh, but I can't wait every morning to float into the shave den and get lost for an hour or so.

Gabe,
The bow tied around the Bic denotes REST IN PEACE to the cartridge and the disoposble multi-blade razor. I have it on the wall of the shave den as a reminder to never look back.

Nice collection there!  Smile

I thought I had enough stuff with a few DE's, a few Straights, a few brushes and about 9-10 soaps!

Someday I will have to post a pic of my "collection"!  LOL

That's a corner my wife will not go for. I just showed her your Den, and the look in her face was enough for me to understand Wink

So I guess I will remain with My Little Corner.
