Which shavemac brush is supposed to be amazing with gel like tips. I believe it's a 2 band silvertip, what's the difference between the D01 or D02 aren't those silvertip a as well? I don't even know what the D means. Any info would be greatly appreciated as well as pictures and info on where one can be purchased. Thanks!

The DO are extra strong hairs afaik

2 band silvertip should be the brush, yep. Almost gel-like tips as I read here on the forum recently..

You want the new Shavemac Silvertip 2-Band one. These have great backbone, very nice flow-through and extremely soft tips.

The D-01 2-Band hair has the strongest backbone of almost any hair that I have tried, but depending on the batch, they can be quite 'scratchy' depending on the knot, loft and your skin; I have tried 2 recent knots and I just found them to be too much for me. Nonetheless, I had one from an older batch of hair that was quite nice with softer tips, but nothing compared to the new Silvertip 2-Band ones.

Good luck.

Thanks y'all. What would average hair length be for a 24mm knot (I love soft but hate floppy and hate scratch too)

48-50 if its not too dense like a TGN. I'd avoid D01 2 band hair unless you like sandpaper.

For a bulb I would go with 54mm on average, maybe 52mm if you like stiff knots. My 24x54 has a very round bulb shape which gives a lot of backbone. I have a 26x58 which is softer and more plush. I also had a Thater 2 band 24x52 which had too much backbone and made it feel a bit stiff and scratchy.

For a fan I would guess 46-48mm but I haven't ordered one yet.

Here's a pic of the 24x54 in the middle with a 24x52 on the left (TGN finest) and 26x58 on the right. The Finest brush is a little floppy and will eventually get a new Shavemac 2 band Silvertip fan around 24x48.

So the 24x54 is that soft "gel like" with backbone but no scritch? I think I want a bulb

In my experience no brush or knot provider will guarantee gel tips. It's more the luck of the draw. Good luck.
You can buy knots from Shavemac.

I would recommend you order the knot you want and get one of the brush artisans to set it for you unless you have experience doing it. It isn't very difficult, but you want to get it right with one of these knots (Shavemac Silvertip 2-Band) as they are wonderful knots.
Good luck.

My experience is that the gel feeling comes from hooked tips. The Shavemacs have a tiny little curl at the end of some of the hairs which makes it feel soft but not super gel like. My TGN Finest knots had bigger curls which definitely felt softer and in some cases mushy. The Shavemacs are very pleasant.
