A Nichiri Cape 1000

A 13/16+ Spanish point Hisyakaku 500, 1/4 hollow "Extra Very Hard". And it is, took a while to get the edge where I wanted it, with very little hone wear as a result.

Half of a pair of 6/8 Nichiri M500s I have. The design seems to be a copy of one of the Heljestrand razors.

Cheers, Steve

Beautiful razors, guys! My only Japanese straights are my Feather AC's, but these photos aren't helping my self imposed restraint!

It was these photos and more like them that got me interested in Japanese straights, and my wife is not a happy camper.  Wait until she sees what I have planned for August and September.

As I'll be in Japan during October, these photos have got me interested in picking up a Japanese SR. Now to carefully work through all that are available and choose one that suits my needs and pocket.

Funny anecdote (unconfirmed but believable in my opinion): When Tamahagane steel became scarce and prohibitively expensive, the Japanese started looking elsewhere. They struck oil in Sweden.

I really love my Daishi 350 Western Kamisori. It is my daily shaver, as I get more and more comfortable shaving with straights.

Thanks HarryO, the spalted maple turned out pretty well, they're lined with black G10 that matches the black pattern.

Here's a Corvette 1965 with the Schoeller-Bleckmann EVH Phoenix steel
