I've had this experience with several items over the years.

I use up my stuff slowly, and then when it starts running down, it just seems to take forever to actually finish. I keep thinking that 'just another week of use will finish the item', and it keeps carrying on for weeks after that.

It happens to everything - toothpaste, shaving cream, soap, and now aftershaves.

I've been working on this bottle of Pinaud Clubman for months now. It's a bottle I bought a few years ago, but I recently decided to finish it off. I made steady progress, but now that I'm down to the last few drops, it seems to have stopped being used up.

I mean, this has been weeks - and there's still a bit left. I'm beginning to wonder if my wife has been adding a few drops of water to it, just to frustrate me. Biggrin

I can put it away, of course, but I'm so close now that I can't wait to move on to the next aftershave.

But........it........just........won't........finish!!!

It's like the last couple of minutes in a basketball game........it just seems to keep on going.

I hate that. Though if it were really frustrating me, I'd go ahead and pitch the last 3 cents worth of AS just for peace of mind.

Similarly, when I was 4 shaves past my expected end time for a sample of Mystic Water soap, I just said "forget it" and mashed a stick of Arko into the bowl with it.

Eric, are you mad, sir! Mixing Mystic Water and Arko! i can not even imagine contaminating Mystic Water in such a way. How did it smell?

mostly like Arko, with a hint of lavender/lime.

Lathered really nicely, though the amount of Mystic wasn't enough to turn Arko into a face-pampering soap.

I only have this problem with products that are ok, the products I love never last. I've been working on a stick of Tabac for what seems an eternity, I even started using it as a body soap. There's only about 1/2 inch left now.

I need to just start tossing stuff.

You could also PIF it to a newbie, if there's something you're just tired of or don't like anymore.

In my case, I actually like the Pinaud Clubman AS. I'm just a little tired of it as I had prepared myself for something new.

I'll probably take Eric's advice and chuck it, but that goes against all my principles of not wasting stuff, if I can help it.

I've been trying to use up the last of a canister of Vitos Red for the past few months. Now that I'm seeing the bottom it almost seems like it's the feeding of the multitudes, and I have more in the can after lathering up than I did before.

I can't bring myself to waste anything either. So eventually attrition will do it in.

Start using it as a body splash!

When I get close to the end of a cream/soap I really lather enough for 10 passes.

Yohann, it only looks like you have enough AS for one or two shaves left in that bottle. Smile

I know what you mean about the never ending product, it seems like pucks of soap work that way for me.

Yohann, the problem is you're watching for its end to come. If you didn't have a reason to be fixed on it, you'd only discover it's gone when shaking it in your palm - and be ticked you didn't notice! Biggrin It's like watching a pot of water coming to a boil. Dodgy

This of course is the reason. Same story with a fountain pen that I'm wanting to try a new ink in. The ink was no longer visible in the resevoir 3 days ago, yet it keeps on writing.......

That's pretty good Billy.

I'm at the end of a puck of MWF. The only thing left is the rim, which still produces plenty. I'd really like to start a new one.

I think I will.

Yep, it's still there. It looks like it should be done tomorrow, so it will probably last another week. Biggrin

Yay! It finished this morning!

----

As an aside - the Pinaud Clubman AS is pretty good. It's an alcohol-based AS so there's some skin drying, but you could call that toning. Smile

The scent is not for everyone. I found that it reminded me of my past, so that was nice. My wife didn't really complain until fairly recently, when she pointed out that it wasn't her favourite fragrance.

The scent does linger subtly, so bear that in mind when mixing fragrances.

I'll probably buy another bottle once I'm done with the other AS splashes that I'm planning on using.
