Okay.....I give up.  How do you load a brush with the small containers of soap samples?  The small tins are not even as wide as the brush.  Any help will be appreciated.  Thanks in advance.

I've scooped out a bit with a spoon and placed in my shaving bowl. YMMV off course.

I scoop out the contents and mash them into a little Pyrex bowl. You can get a set cheap, and they're also good for cooking. The size is just right to load soap samples.

As the others have said, transfer the soap from the small containers into a bowl/dish to help facilitate loading your brush, or you can just smear the soap, directly, onto your face and build the lather, there.  Thumbsup

Encountered that problem mself.  Solved it.

Before you get into your shower, or whatever you do before shaving, get your shaving mug well warmed up with really hot water.
Separately, put the sample of soap into the smallest bowl that will handle the sample chip, and run enough hot water into the bowl barely to cover the sample of shaving soap.

After exiting the shower:

  1. Completely empty the hot water from your shaving mug, but put the mug in the sink, sufficiently immersed on the outside in hot water; and
  2. Pour the water that had been covering the sample of soap from the bowl into the hot mug to get it heated up.
  3. Regardless that you may usually face lather, this one time bowl lather the soapy water in your hot mug.  There will be enough dissolved soap in the stuff that you poured off the sample to make a rich lather by bowl lathering.
  4. Transfer the lather to yor beard, and shave away.

I use synthetic brushes, less loading more lather. Rather than break the soap out and use it like a shave stick I just load the brush like I would any other soap. Sure it gets a little messy and I lose some, but the amount shaved from the synthetic makes up for it IMO.
