Burt Shavitz, cofounder of Burt's Bees just passed @ 80. His products were interesting but drove me nuts. Either they were good or AWFULL and sold in overpriced WHOLE (paycheck)FOODS or similar healthfood outlets with multiple piercings and tatted cashiers pushing Kale and Bach oils on me.

We use a drop of Burt’s Bees More Moisture Conditioner with Baobab in the shower every morning as a pre-shave beard conditioner.  I share your disdain for Whole Foods, but for a different reason:  I try to avoid patronizing any business whose major shareholder/CEO is totally unethical; were it not for that, I could easily abide the piercings and tattoos, and simply pass on both the kale and Bach oil.  FWIW, the entire Burt’s Bees line is available a your local Tar-Jay, or on-line at Walgreen’s or ts subsidiary, drugstore.com.

+1, they last forever too,  I lose the tube before I have ever even got half way through one.

I watched a documentary on him once, it was pretty interesting.  He seemed like an amazing person.
