So I just recently discovered the plethora of cheap-o European shaving creams that come in a tube (I'm a bit late to the game, I know). I have recently tried Palmolive, Ingram and Erasmic, and I have a few others arriving in August from a relative visiting from over seas (Lider, Wars and Menthol Palmolive). So which Euro tube cream is tops? Anything really obscure worth knowing about?

Not the absolute cheapest, but these tubes can compete with high end creams and IMHO beats TF&H, GFT, TOBS & DR HARRIS in performance:

O Melhor
All 6 Musgo Real's
Top Secret
Speick
Atkinson English Lavender
I Coloniali
Lavanda

I also have own 3 different Palmolives, 2 Nivea, Ingram, Erasmic and 3 Super Max tubes. Neither can touch the O Melhor for performance.
But all are very decent creams.

As Bibbelmann mentions Proraso blue may have a weird aloe Vera lakrids/licorise scent, but it performs excellent.
Proraso Red almost performs as great as Proraso Blue. Proraso White is a step down. Proraso Green a step even further down. But all 4 Proraso tubes are very nice. Just not all equally great.

Lea also makes a pretty decent couple of tubes. Lea Classic being the best. But not great, only a good solid performer.

Don't have a lot of tube shave creams but Proraso Blue, Musgo Real, Nivea and Kaloderma have worked well enough for me.

Depending on the availability of vouchers, and current sales offers, anything made by Creightons. Right now, for example, Truefitt & Hill Authentic No. 10 Finest Shave Cream. Then, many creams to come out of Eastern Europe. Wars has already been mentioned, and I could think of at least five more from Croatia and Bulgaria, all below €1. The scents are very Eastern Block, but the performance is commendable.

[Edit: Seems like it's that time of the year again at Creighton's - all the cheap stuff is currently sold out, including T&H in a tube, as well as The Real Shaving Company, and Groomed! - it would watch that site nevertheless, the products have the best price/performance ratio in my my opinion]

The Bulgarian products (which I've never tried) came immediately to mind, as RobinK notes.
There was a good thread about them here:

If you extend the definition of Europe to include Israel, I've heard good things about (but also have never tried) MEM.

My favorites of the ones I've tried are Proraso Red and Musgo Real (I use Spiced Citrus).

Italian (menthol) Palmolive is very nice, too. Speick is a good performer, too, with a sharp lavender scent from the spike oil. These two are edged out of the top spot because they don't leave my face feeling as nice after the shave as my two favorites.

The Italian Palmolive for me...I always get a great shave from it. I see some members have mentioned Lavanda and O'Melhor. If you get them, you better use them before they turn to concrete in the tubes. They have an extremely short shelf life.

That's very true with the Lavanda and O'Melhor. Great scents and performance but go 'off' fairly quick.

Phil,

I own a tube of the old Lavanda, it dates back to 2011, and I'm half way through it now and it sill works fine.

I agree that it not the softest soaps I own, and you certainly have to press a little hard on the tube for it to coem out, and once it's out it has the consistency of more like a hard croap, so you have to use it like a croap.

This means I put the Lavanda croap in the palm of my hand and add a bit of water and massage it into the croap and nw I can transfer it to my face and start to face lather.

My O Melhor from 2012 is now just like my Lavanda. Hard but not impossible hard.
I have heard some mention that they can't even press the cream out of the tube - my 2 Lavanda and 2 O melhors are luckily not that hard....and 2 of the tubes are from 2012/2011 as mentioned.
They sure are some great creams.........
