Does anyone have one of these straight razors? They are very beautiful looking razors. A bit expensive for me but would love to hear how they are from anyone who may have one.

I would have to see th razor up close to give my honest opinion, not to sure given there's only one photo and plenty of description, none the less I think I would rather put out $300 Euro on a big 8/8 Revisor personally.

Right you are, Jamie. The razor is handsome, yes, but who makes it for Saponificio? Is it a custom-made razor? Or is it mad by Dovo or another big razor maker? Then there is the price. Too many guesses here.

It also describes it as a 1/4 - 1/2 hollow 8/8. That's going to be a really heavy razor.

Cheers, Steve

If it is the same Medusa that is seen on the Italian forums then they are spoke highly off. Use modern CPM-S35N steel. No personal experience though

How does using a laser to etch the logo into the blade affect the temper?

According to the site it's made by "medusa"

My advice would be have a good look at the Revisor lineup they have some great razors for sale, especially their own Revisor make the shoulderless full hollow blades I have honed many of them and they take a superb edge and the quality is right on the money and more importantly many of them come shave ready, these two are typical Revisors own make razors yours for about $215 dollars. PS If I were looking for a new modern made razor these would be some of the front runners.

With all due respect, OP was asking for feedback from those who have (or have used) a VS razor--not a recommendation for a different make from those who have not used one.
Revisors are great, but I'm interested in the original question--has anyone used one of these (or a Medusa)?

I think the fact that they have been around for quite a number of years and there have been no replies regarding the said above razor so maybe this is a good indication of what people actually think of them? So I'm only trying to give the gentleman another option if he's looking for a new modern razor with known pedigree and quality just trying to be helpful. If you Google the razor you will come across a few articles personally the look on some of those saponificio varesino razors don't look to good to my eyes I'll say it again If you are looking for a suggestion for a new razor go for the Revisor.

Never seen on used that razor but it doesn't look too good.

The scales are cheap looking, the pinning amateurish and the overall look uninspired
