I just received 100 Gillette Plats that I bought on eBay for a great price, ~$23.  Much to my surprise there is a considerable amount of arabic writing on the cardboard sleeve and on each of the packets.  If you notice below, on the right there is a cheap-looking rubber stamp "Made in Russia."  I think they got me...I walked right into it.  What say you guys?

Gillette blades made in Russia are common.
Looks like the real deal to me!

I sure hope so.  I've just never seen this packaging w/foreign script.  Plus the price was kind of low.

Any way you could post a pic of the carton it came in, wrapper and blade itself, more pics the better.

Gillette sells in different parts of the world so it would not surprise that these were made for the Arabic speaking countries. Couple that with Gillette blades being made mostly/only in Russia now and you have the real deal. Items like that are sometimes call "grey market".

I see your point.  However, in all of my shaving/shopping experience I have never seen this rendition of the grey market.  Hope you're correct.

The individual packets of 5 have the same writing.  The individual wrappers and blades therein have no arabic writing.

Always a first time I guess. How do they shave compared to other Russian made Gillette blades?

I bought these on eBay from a vendor in Lake Champlain, NY.

I have not yet shaved with them, but here's hoping for the best.

There were fake Super Iridium blades a while ago. They were easily identified by comparing the blade, blade wrapping and box (not the packaging shown above).

Real (left), fake (right).

Other differences included:
Fake box - gluing on sides likely to give way when opening (rather than perforations separating as intended).
Fake wrapping - duller in colour.
Fake blade - less flex (due to different steel).
Fake blade - 4 grease spots as opposed to glue.

Its very difficult to form an opinion regarding your blades without further pictures. However, at the time of the fake Super Iridiums, the real ones were difficult to source and demand was high...

Not a fake , I owned the original and bought 50 from the same guy you bought online/ebay. They are legit . The shave quality is identical . The only difference is the script and Arabic packaging which doesn't make a blade fake .

I had some Indian made blades with Sanskrit writing along with the English. I asked one of my many Indian neighbors what it meant. I had visions of some famous quote from the Vedic texts or maybe even the Mahatma. Devendra looked and  translated " do not wipe blade after use" Signs011

I've seen a few of these "fake blade" threads going around.  Is there really enough incentive in a 15 cent blade to make counterfeit ones?

Crazy, if people would just put their time and effort into something constructive...
