I keep seeing posts about other members 'shave den'. When I was growing up, a Den was sort of a less formal living room and precursor to the modern concept of a 'mancave'. My grandfather still had to smoke his cigars on the back porch but a shot of bourbon in the den was acceptable.
My grandfather shaved in THE BATHROOM. The idea of shaving on the fireplace mantle in his DEN just doesn't make sense. I also shave in the
bathroom. I have half the counter. Pyewacket's litter tray is in the corner, and if I don't clean it 2x a day no amount of aftershaves or scented soaps  can cover my breach of our 16 year contract. Pye is fascinated by shaving. I often have to lift him onto the countertop; at 16 he's getting stiff in the hips. He watches me shave, has attacked a few brushes as mice and carried them off- to our den.

My take on the phrase "shave den" is that for most people who shave it is a fancy word for bathroom. Oth I have no doubt some have a specific room set aside for shaving other than the bathroom. My shave den is the bathroom.

Not that I've ever used that phrase, but I read it as either where you shave (bathroom for example), or where you stash your shaving gear (cabinet, closet, room). An area dedicated to shaving. I'm leaning towards the latter definition personally.

I use the term synonymously with shaving product collection.

Yes, my shave den has a toilet and a shower. It does not have a bath. It is used only by me or occasionally someone who may need to go. I have opted out of the master bath favoring all the space on or in shelves and drawers for my shaving products. It is my shave den. There are others like it but this one is mine.

It is the name of a forum that is not as good as this one, but it is also another name for a man cave relating to shaving.

My regular "shave den" is two drawers in the bathroom... but it's mine, damn it! Tongue

The term means many things to many men (and some women, I'm sure), but when you boil it down it either means the place where shaving takes - or a small refuge from everyday life, a moment of zen, a sanctuary, a mancave, a fall out shelter from reality...

...or as my Better Half put it; the bathroom Wink

I never heard of a shave den until I joined these shaving sites.  For me it has always been my Little Corner or my bathroom drawer, and that has been for a little over twenty years Wink

If I have a "shave den", I guess it's our master bathroom. I get a shelf in the medicine cabinet, and one in the wall cabinet.

I may someday renovate the basement bathroom for my own purposes. As my kids get older, this will probably become a necessity. Anybody know if I have to vent a sink in a basement bathroom? Smile

A shave den is a bathroom that doesn't have any potpourri or scented candles in it.   Biggrin

Not to worry as I use all of my brushes; they are fit and ready to get to work; none are slumbering, except the ones reserved for my 15-year-old son when he is ready to start this journey!  Biggrin
