I'm trying the SuperMax Super Platinums for the first time and so far they are great. Today was my 4th shave using one and I got a BBS shave. All other blades I've tried so far only gave me BBS 3 times at most. I suspect tomorrow's shave will be BBS too but we'll see.
All in all this is the best blade I have used by far. They shave VERY smoothly.
UPDATE: 6/22/2012 Today was my 5th shave on a single Super Platinum blade. While I did not get a BBS I did get a very DFS. I will therefore retire the blade today, but if I were satisfied with DFS I think I could get close to a week out of one of these blades. This razor blade is the best I've tried so far and by a pretty wide margin.
Even if I change the blades after 4 shaves I have over a year's worth of blades and I only paid $19.95 for them, and that included shipping. I'm very satisfied!

All we can get in the UK (as far as I know) are SuperMax Platinum (which Connaught have stopped doing because of irregular supply). I'm using these blades, and they are the best for me that I have tied so far, but does anyone know if they are otherwise-named SuperMax Super Platinum or something else entirely?

I didn't go through my test records, but I did go through the bullet carton I keep good blades in to use up, and the Supermax Super Plats are in it. I have no bad memories associated with them. I suspect I didn't get as many shaves out of them as with my best blades. I got 8 shaves out of a Gillette 7 O'Clock Yellow just the other day.

That's a great number of shaves! Maybe as my skill improves I'll get more out of the Super Platinums.

Hi Uncle Dave
Could you please share a link to those exact DE blades? As the closes ones I've found are these (granted I didn't spend a huge amount of time looking around for them).
Take care, Mike

Those are the regular platinums I think. Here's a link to the Super Platinums. You might check eBay too and there are several other links that show up with Google.

Yes it is! This will be my "go to" blade unless I find something better.

Well that was the one that scored the highest overall in my testing. Many users have come to that conclusion as well.
I am glad you found a keeper!

The Super Max Super Platinum's have been my go to blade since I first discovered them about 6 months ago. For the dollar value, it is perhaps the best blade out there...The Only razor the don't work well for me in is he R41, but for everything else...smooth and sharp.
I consider myself a evangelist of these blades!! Ask anyone that knows me from other forums...I never shut up about them!! LOL
