Hello all,

I own a standard 3 piece R41 that I cherish (use it with a Weber handle). I find myself contemplating the purchase of either a two piece R41 twist or a replacement head (just in case they decide to close shop).

Most webshops that sell Mühle also sell heads for the R89 and the R41.

Is there a way of telling from which year the head comes (pre- 2013 or not)?

Cheers

Tilly

I just bought my R41 head from Connaught a few weeks ago and it was stated on the website that it is the 2013 model. Shaving.ie carries them as well but I did not see mention of the year, however someone said they contacted Muhle or heard from Muhle that 2013 is all the produce now.

Thanks!

Forgot to add though that i would like to try the 2011 R41 version. The question is where to get one?

Cheers

Try posting a WTB or WTT in the BST. You may find someone willing to part with theirs.

2011 version is very difficult to come by. You can tell the difference between the two several ways, but you probably need to start by searching the Internet for pictures of the two side-by-side. (I don't have pictures handy right now, but I may be able to post some later.) The outside pair of tooth-combs is wider on the 2013 version than the 2011. Also, if you take the top cap and hold the edge against a U.S. penny, the edges of the 2013 are just slightly wider than the penny, while the edges of the 2011 are slightly narrower.

I believe any replacement head you find at this point is going to be the 2013 version.  You're going to have to find one someone is selling and as mentioned, they are hard to come by.

You should indeed it's a very nice shaver that allows for a direct contact with the blade.

You might be able to simulate an '11 head by using a shim on the '13 version. It would go under the blade.

Other than aggression the '13 doesn't result in a hugely different shave as compared to the '11 IMO from what I remember the last time I used the '13.

From what I read I already did get the impression that the differences between a '11 head and a '13 head are slight indeed.

But in my 'personal reality' the '11 has achieved cult status Biggrin .

So I can't seem to live without one!
