Anyone suggest a razor as aggressive and efficient as the R41, but a little less harsh?

Try a Merkur Progress on 4 or 5....I use mine on 2 or 3 and it is quite effective. Also you might consider an PARKER OC....they really work well.(#24 or #26)...only difference is the handle.

How about a Merkur slant bar? They are very efficient but easy on the skin.

Indeed they are.

You can try a Fatip Grande or a Timor OC, too. Very efficient razors, and frankly, less "harsh" than R4. I love both =P

I would suggest a Fatip razor. It is just as efficient and aggressive but much smoother. I believe no other razor (except for the Above The Tie which I have not tried yet) is as aggressive but for the Fatip. But it is very smooth.

Ikon Shavecraft Tech might be your closest comparison the the R41, in my opinion, but there are others as well as this is a very subjective opinion. Fatip, Barbasol Floating head, Progress or Futur on 5, ATT H1, etcetera.
Good luck.

IKon Shavecraft Tech or ATT H head. In my opinion, the ATT is smoother, but the Tech is a hell of a bargain.
