I What would you recommend as far as soaps/creams go?  I want something with that old baber smell.  Something clean.  I have MDC right now and love it.  However, I would like to try new soaps and or creams.   Any suggestions?

The only barbershop soap I have is Strop Shoppe and it smells great. Also, the performance of this soap is top notch. It is a tallow based soap with performance on the same level as B&M imho. I only have the sample but will be ordering full size.

Old barbershop smell, hmmm go for Barrister and Mann Seville - It's the best barbershop scent on the market.

Other good barbershop scents that are good but a tad more synthetic smelling are:

Mikes Natural
Maggards
Chiselled Face Ghost Town Barber

One I haven't tried but gets a lot of love is Stirling Barbershop.

Good luck!

I like Latha by B&M. It lathers great and I love the scent and at $10 you can't beat it. I think it has that nice barber shop smell.

It may not be described as a "barbershop" scent, but I've always thought TOBS avocado smelled like a cream you would find in a barbershop.

I too like Strop Shoppe.  If you wanted a vegan version, Wet Shave Products has a Barbershop scent.  For the price, it performs well.

Ghost Town Barber is great, but it's a bit of a different twist on the BS smell.. .Although I do love it and the AS is an exact match.  It's a great one to try.

TOBS Mr. Taylors is pretty great although it's a bit of a twist on the BS smell as well..

Barrister Seville is probably one of the greats of classic BS smells -- and a likely great choice if you want very classic scent.

My favorite Barbershop scent is PAA CaD. I also have Strop Shoppe Baker Street and B&M Saville which are also nice.

I'd like to cast a vote for WSP Rustic soaps. They are excellent and inexpensive.

Stirling Barbershop is a great scent, it's different from every other barbershop type scent I've smelled but in a good way.  You have also want to try some of the Shulton Old Spice dupes on the market as I'm sure you would also like them; Stirling Spice and Soap Commander Endurance are 2 of my favorites.

I second Latha.  Not exactly a traditional barbershop scent, but clean smelling.  And can't beat the performance for $10!
