While I have nothing but good wishes for the occupational futures of the workers of the facility, and some nostalgia for the days when America actually made things, this parallels the 1991 shutdown of the Trabant automobile factory in Zwickau, Saxony   The DE razor blades that are made in Verona. NH, are among the worst that are produced anywhere in the world, and do not deserve to survive n a competitive marketplace.

I like the USA made double edge (metal dispenser), very smooth. Also the Super (lab blue) & Med Prep are among our best selling blades.

I too use and enjoy preps and blues. Perhaps they'll find a buyer who will keep the plant open. Best wishes of course to the employees who work there!

Charlie we may have to find a suitable blade replacement. Trivial in comparison to finding employment.

The new Dorco blades are very smooth, however they are closer to KAI & Feather in sharpness. I have always found Personna (USA) to be medium aggressive.

I believe a buyer will be found & hopefully not a rival maker but a management buyout.

The first time I heard it was the other day. It's ridiculous and nothing I will ever mutter.

I actually find it a bit sacrilegious.

Ed, as much as I enjoy those two blade types, there are a few others I use successfully. But yes, if a suitable buyer doesn't come forward, the blades will be missed. Of course, those employees will need to be retrained - it's not like there are other companies in the same business nearby. Let's hope Energizer does right by their people.

Many fans of the Personna blades, Med prep, Lab blades online, I am a user, too.

So the story did surprise me

Just hung up the phone with Robbins Instruments. The person on the other end said not to worry, the factory/plant/company has been sold and a fresh shipment was recently received and invoiced under the new ownership's name. She was not at liberty to disclose that information.

That is the Rod held by Asclepius, a Greek god.

Having never used them or maybe I did and they did nothing for me, I won't miss them.

It is not good news for wet shavers though. I'm guessing we will see more closures like this over time. Lots of people making soap, razor and brushes but zero new blade makers in who knows how many years.
