I Opened it up today and got my first shave with it..

Weight of the razor is amazing.  Perfect weight and balance, smooth finish, and great machining. Blade fits on the base plate very snugly.  when you have to take it off, it can be a bit of hassle because it's locked into the post very tightly.  If you fumble, you can cut yourself.

water : semi-hard water.
prep : hot shower, Dr.harris Arlington soap with omega boar brush.
razor : black mamba
blade :  nacet blade with 2 shaves on it

I did my usual WTG, XTG x 2 (2 different directions) and touch-up / final ATG pass.

Like many initial reviews mentioned, the razor feels great in hand and feels really smooth on the face.  It just glides over my face with no friction at all.  I don't know how Joe pulled this off.
I almost ran out of lather on my face during my touch ups, but I could still do some touch ups on the chin and jawline without reapplying the lather, and it was still gliding smoothly on my face.

It felt very different from its siblings, baby smooth and stealth slant.  Joe emphasized that this is a very different beast compared to those two, and yes, he was right.  It is a different beast.

However, I am not sure yet if it is a more efficient shaver.
It was a very easy and comfortable shave on my face.  However, problems spots like jawline, right below the chin and above adam's apple, removing the stubble was a little difficult.  I put enough pressure and did enough touch ups, but just couldn't remove all the hair.

It is my first shave with the razor, so I need to get dialed in with it to really be able to tell if it's a razor that lives up to its hype.
For now, I have to say that the razor was slightly, ever so slightly under-performing.
But again, I used a blade that had two shaves on it, and I have not tried other blades.

With more shaves on the razor with different blades and preps, I am sure that I will get better results. or "different" results.

I will update as I get more shaves with it this week with different blades and preps.

P.S.  The face feel and the audible feedback of razor was very similar to above the tie R1.  hm?

It's a horrible razor . I suggest you pulling your WTB ad and boxing the razor up and sending it to me before you hurt yourself Biggrin . Just keep rubbing those rough spots all day long and telling yourself how bad the razor is... Smile

I love rubbing those scruffy stubbles. lol.

On a side note, I think Joe is planning another batch release around 8.15.
Caveat is that he wants his loyal customers to get first dibs.  Will it be available to general public afterwards? Don't know!

Good review and thanks for the thoughts. Definitely look forward to more as you continue to use as I wouldn't mind picking one of these up myself.

Gonna have second shave with it with the same blade and then probably change the blade out to something else.
I am thinking medical prep as my next blade.

Great review. I have one myself, so far for me personally the feather blades works the best. Voshkod works great also. Polsilvers seem to give me irritation with his razor but on my stealth slant seems to be great. I have other blades to test with my mamba, but feather so far has been the best.

Makes me want to try feather in it as well.   Sharpness might make up for the mildness of the razor.  I find it odd that you said voskhod works just as well.  It is a smooth blade, but I know it's not a very efficient cutter.
I shall see!
Next one will be feather blade, unless Otis tells me he wants to borrow it Smile

I just read that, thanks and maybe in the near future. You get to know it first, I'm trying to get to know a new ikon right now anyway. I'll send you the ikon you send me the black mamba when we both get to know our razors. Oh and use a feather!

it sure seems like it.  Or maybe he generates enough profit from other shaving supplies through IB.
