So, I came to work this morning and someone told me that chin is bruised up.
My response was "it might be some kind of marker" then they were all serious and told me that it's purple and it looked like a bruise.

I pulled out my phone and turned my camera on selfie mode and looked. And it does look like a bruise.

What I don't understand is, I did not have irritation/sore feeling at all.
If I did have irritation from shaving, it would usually be in sensitive area like neck, under the jawline, not the chin.

Is this considered razor burn? Is this likely due to too much pressure?
I had a 3 pass shave last night, but might have done a stroke or two touch ups to remove chin stubble, but nothing out of ordinary.

Any ideas or similar experiences? please post.

I apologize about the stubbly face photo.

Hmmm, never seen that before.  I don't have any real suggestions other than skip a day or two, if work allow it, and see if it dissipates. Otherwise, a visit to the dermatologist would be in order.

I hope is nothing serious.

thanks man. It's pretty strange because I don't feel anything there. It's just the color.
Wouldn't a razor BURN usually accompany some kind of soreness when touched?

Not sure if it will cause soreness to touch, but I would think it will burn with any alcohol based aftershave.

Are you married?  Whenever I wake up with an odd bruise or something my wife says she beat me in my sleep.

I'm not a medical professional, but I wonder if it could be an allergic reaction.

Morbus Bowen ?

It could well be irritation and your shaving procedure just compensates for the sore feelings

If your chin gets grabbed and kind of twisted a little bit it makes that mark.(don't ask how I know just trust me). If you didn't sleep alone then looks like your face got grabbed. WHen we were kids we would to do this to other kids as a joke. Then it happened  to me as an adult.(or she beat you for all the razors you buy Biggrin )

don't scare me! but I think this happened a few months ago, didn't know why it happened, but it disappeared in a day or two.
It was same, no pain, no soreness kind of a thing.

Seriously, this is no Morbus Bowen, just a typical rash, judging by your pic Smile

What? Your girlfriend does the same mine does to me? Must be a female programming thing.... Biggrin

If you say rash, how does one get that? from harsh shaving? wrong soap? too much friction?
Yesterday's shave was pretty normal compared to other days.
Just trying to figure out what the heck caused it, other than the usual suspect, wifey...

I recommend a surveillance camera at home, and shallow angles with no pressure when shaving. Smile

That is a very unusual marking and I wish you luck trying to find the cause of it.
