Well, now that we have relocated to the West Coast of the US (after many years of living on the East Coast), the scenery has changed a bit. It's still beautiful, but it's a different beauty.

I rode over to my brother-in-law's house for his birthday today, and had a wonderful 30+ mile ride. The evening was clear and Mt. Baker loomed large on one side through my ride. I didn't stop to photograph it, but it was stunning!

Here's the sunset from my house after I got home:

My daughter and I went up to the Mt. Baker wilderness a few days ago, and took a short hike around the ridges there. It was another lovely day (though it was hot), and we got a chance to make it almost all the way to the glaciers. We will have to do that some other day.

Here are some of the pics from that hike:

It's impossible to capture the majesty of the mountains in a photograph, of course, but we certainly did appreciate the time we spent there.

Another thing I'm thankful for is that I am not completely out of shape yet. My daughter wanted to run the last mile or so of the hike, and we had a lot of fun doing that, as we both like trail running. That was a bit of a challenge after a 15 mile hike, but it was also refreshing. I was surprised that I was able to keep up with my 17 year-old. Longer legs and more practice on ridge trails came to my rescue. Biggrin

Beautiful, Yohann. I live in Portland, and within 30" of downtown are a dozen hikes passing some of the most beautiful waterfalls you can ever see. The Pacific Northwest is a terrific place to live. I'm glad that you are enjoying it.

Moving west ruined me too. Now I'm a weather and nature snob. But it's harder being a food snob out here!
Scenery is out west. Food is back east.

Yohann, now you understand why I enjoy it, here, so much! Wait until you come for a hike, here, in the North Shore mountains, my friend!  As a bonus, you'll get some wonderful backgrounds for your SOTD photos with the new scenery! Biggrin

Yep, I knew what it was like before we moved here, as we used to visit now and then, but I never really got a chance to hike much as I'm almost the only person in the family who likes hiking more than a couple of miles. Now I get a chance to hike whenever I can find the time, and I don't need to squeeze it all into a short visit.

I look forward to seeing the scenery around BC too. I'll be up there as soon as I can. Smile
