Johnny - is that the original Proraso Red, or the new, reformulated version?

Today I shaved with my new Progress LH for 2nd time, very DFS!

Pre: very warm water wash, hot towel, RB#1 scuttle, Shave Secret oil, soak brush

Shave: Merkur Progress LH set on 3 for 2-pass and set on 1 for touch up, Shark blade (2), RS PB2 brush, Arko shave stick

Post: warm water rinse, Naturally Fresh rock-stick (ammonium alum) and not much tingle today!, cold water rinse, Krampert's Finest Bay Rum AS

I am LOVIN the audio feedback from the Progress LH, plus it is amazing on how many places the head can be balanced for different manuevers by hand placement on the handle. I am still learning how to best use it on my front-face chin, and jaw line area.

Also, I am surprised how easy it is to keep it set on 3 for 2-pass! After a couple more shaves... I may get *crazy* and set it on 4 for first pass Tongue

That is the original Proraso Red. See my post in The Haul Section.

Soap: RazoRock Napoleon's Violet Heart
Razor: Plastic Safety Razor
Blade: Feather
Post: Alum
A/S: Krampert's Finest

Well I'm a bit speechless. This flimsy plastic safety razor that came free with my order from bestshave.net preformed outstandingly. Quite unexpected. It holds a blade similar to the Tradere, Pils, and Modern, I wonder if that had anything to do with the great shave. Regardless, it now has my interested very piqued in those three stainless steel counterparts.

It is hard to go wrong with any of the variants within the EJ DE89 family. I do not think I could give myself a weeper with this razor even if I tried. I cannot never get a true BBS out of it, but does that really matter? I have a DFS that is closer than any cartridge that I have ever used, and never have any irritation.

The Sandalwood mixed with the Clubman could possibly be a match made in heaven. I think I shall purchase some Australian Sandalwood oil and mix in with my next purchase of Clubman.
